“Very romantic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2008

We stayed in Camelot Chambers on Halloween weekend. It was on of the most romantic times of my life, it was awesome, We enjoyed our beautiful room, the bed was incredibly comfortable. We had dinner that Friday night, at the Inn and we were pleasantly surprised that it was free for the month of October. It was fine dining at its best. The people there, owner, employees and other guests were all warm and fun. Close to wineries, shopping and the grounds are so beautiful, so much to do. We are asking our kids for a gift certificate for X-Mas so we can come back in the spring!!

  • Liked — romantic and relaxing, great food
  • Disliked — Poor lighting in the bathroom

My room in the 'Castle' building was huge. Everything was in its place--very comfortable. Breakfast in the 'Keep' building was unique and quite tasty. Other guests stirred up lively conversation during breakfast. Herb is very funny--when he's not cooking. Ruth is smart and a very interesting marketing person. My stay was just what I needed and above all expectations.

Stayed January 2008

We stayed at Castle in the Country for two nights in the wintertime. The house is really wonderful, a pale blue Victorian which is beautifully decorated inside. We liked the hostess very much, but only saw the host in passing (he does the cooking). The hostess was very helpful in assisting us to plan out a route for antiquing. She was also very familiar with restaurants in the general area. We went to a Mexican place she recommended and tried the corn soup she likes there; it was delicious. We stayed in the Rose Gazebo (not to be confused with the English Rose Suite). Decorated in burgandy, pink, black, grey, and green, it's the room at the top of the tower, and we loved it. The bathroom for this room is a little way down the hall. When I was there, the water pressure was very low in the shower; I have long hair, and it was quite a chore to get the shampoo rinsed off. My only other caveat is the amount of food. The breakfasts were adequate, but not big enough to sustain you until a late lunch. Each breakfast started with a muffin and included fruit. One morning there was stuffed French toast and two slices of bacon. The next morning there was a frittata and two links of sausage. The food was excellent. Specialty coffee packets were available to brew any time, for a small fee. I would also like to mention that the rooms were exceptionally clean. Little touches such as a nice variety of magazines in the room (for example, both sports and decorating) made this a place we hope to return to someday.

This is truly one of the best bed & breakfasts we have been too. All of the small details were in place so you could relax and feel pampered...my top favorites...wonderful, good quality bath salts (no dollar store skimping!), awesome coffee in the self serve (anytime!) snack room, wonderful breakfast, fluffy towels, a baggie to tote home their wonderful soap, the big soaking tub, the high quality linens...I noticed it all and appreciated it more than anything! If you need a getaway of any kind stay at the Castle!
