“Great location, good hotel, lovely staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2010

We recently stayed here for a week. Having stayed in many 5* hotels in Dubai, this hotel wasnt as luxurious and the staff werent as professional as in the others but it was none the less a good hotel. Although the room was a little small(premium sea view), it was very clean and the bathroom was lovely. Most of the staff were friendly, however trying to make a booking through the hotel to go to the Burj Khalifa tower proved to be too much. I was passed from one person to another and in the end the booking didnt go through properly, so beware. The pool is too small for the size of the hotel and there is no private beach area for the hotel but the public beach is just five minutes across the road. The horizon restaurant is fine for the buffet breakfast and the gym is good and well equipped. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest,

It was nice to learn that you had a great time staying in our hotel. Likewise, I have noted you comments regarding your booking in Burj Khalifa and I am disappointed to learn the service provided by our staff. Normally, anyone who would like to visit The Top in Burj Khalifa, either the ticket should be purchased directly in Dubai Mall or through online. Our Front Office employees are briefed to provide this information whenever there is an inquiry from any guest.

Also, the hotels that opened years ago have private beaches when this area was still under planning. All the new hotels in JBR can not have that privilege but they compensate by giving modern facilities and high service standards.

Thank you for your feedback and I look forward to welcoming you again in our hotel in the not too distant future.

With kind regards,

Timur Ilgaz

This is the 5th visit to Dubai and everytime the number of hotels availble gets bigger and bigger - we got an excellent deal here , although half board is not my cup of tea- the food was good but we did enjoy dining in the other restaurants although we had to pay for them- there is something more appealing to dine in a nice ambience rather than where you have breakfast - service from all staff especially pool staff was excellent - rooms and bathrooms were great and housekeeping exceptional - 2 things lets it down - as non smokers we were put in a smoking room so had to leave balcony door open to detox the room and had confirmed ahead that we had a double room but ended up with a twin - not overly romantic - you couldnt fault the staff although reception could have been slicker - have had a great response to my feedback email - so they are really trying to impress - pool area good but not big enough for size of hotel - you can access the beach but dont expect beds or drinks service as it is a public beach - the area can get noisey at weekends but that is Dubai - we stayed only 4 nights - if going for longer you may wish to consider hotels with more dining options - worth a go though

Had an amazing time in Dubai and this Hotel was great with an enviable location on Jumeirah Walk with its many bars and restaurants.
Rooms were excellent and we had a view over to Atlantis The Palm.
Taxis were extremely cheap and were always outside the hotel and all metered too.
Dont miss Dubai Mall its huge with some amazing stores aswell as lots of UK high Street favourites River Island, Top Shop and Good old Nandos.
Overall an amazing trip xxx

We arranged a last minute short break to Dubai, and booked the hotel from comments on Trip Advisor. We were certainly not disappointed. The hotel, service, food and rooms were all fabulous. We arrived early and there was a problem with our booking. This did not in any way cause a problem for the staff. Daisy on the front desk ordered tea for us and the problem was sorted quickly and efficiently. Our room was made available early and their apologies (not needed) were sincere.

We only have one gripe about the hotel - reserving of sunloungers. The pool area is reasonably small, and by 6.30 (yes 6.30 even though the pool doesn't open until 7.00) almost all of the loungers were reserved with towels. We thought this was strange as there were few people about at this hour. We sat at the pool from about 8.00 and many of the sunloungers remained unoccupied until 11.30. The pool manager explained that the people 'were on the beach' and 'were coming back frequently' to those people who enquired about the beds. This was not happening - the beds were empty the whole time. As we could see the pool from our room, and as my husband enjoys an early morning coffee on the balcony, he watched with interest, the 'routine' at the pool. Firstly the pool manager puts the towels on the 'reserved beds' and explains to anybody who queries this that the people had 'just this minute left'. He then, at an appropriate time, was 'rewarded' for reserving the beds with a discreet tip. Some families 'reserved' 8 beds per day in this manner. This is something, that in my opinion, should be stopped by the management.

In view of your comments regarding the sunloungers, we are pleased to inform you that we have purchased additional sunloungers to accomodate our guests. Likewise, we have implemented a rule regarding reservation of sunloungers. The sunloungers can only be reserved for 30 minutes. If it remains empty after 30 minutes it will be given to other guests.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future and assuring you of our best services and prompt attention at all times.

The actual hotel is great and fine but if you are the type of person who wants to have the peace of mind that prices you pay are fair, my advice is pay up and go somewhere else. the hotel has a space for an external agent for tours, dune trips etc. These can be a lot more expensive than those that guidebook (or the in hotel magazine!) would conventionally reference. You may wish to do more research...and the rotana staff know little about this and had to look into it for me when I asked. I just didn't feel it was a fully trusting environment and won't stay there again.

I have personally investigated the matter regarding your feedback on our external tour agent. Their prices are indeed a little higher that the regular tours which is advertised in other magazines or guidebooks. However, our tour agent’s facilities are more impressive and exclusive compared to others. They have their own camp site which is better than the others in terms of location, facilities and service. We only want the best for our guests and provide professional service and facilities which Rotana is well known to.

I hope this matter will not deter you from coming back to our hotel as I do look forward to personally welcome you to Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach-Dubai in the not too distant future and assuring you of our best services at all times.

This is a good hotel, no doubt. We travelled in October 2010 and we were told my the hotel's taxi driver that it had been open about 4 months so it's still quite new. As you would expect from something so new it's spotlessly clean. Fortunately most the teething issues seem to have gone too and the service we received was very good.

We stayed in a standard room (1907) which was very well proportioned and had a great view of the palm and the Atlantis from the Balcony. The room itself had a door which allowed it to be connected to the next room along. This is my only complaint about the hotel as this door meant you could hear the next room at times. Not a lot but enough to be just a little annoying. I imagine if you got loud neighbours it could be a problem.

The pool is nicely laid out with a bar nearby and it's all very clean with towels provided for use at the pool or at the beach which is a very short walk away. The bar is expensive but that's to be expected in Dubai if you buy alcohol.

They do charge for internet usage in the lobby, that annoyed me a little for a 5 star hotel.

Also the hotel's taxi's are expensive so don't use them.

One thing you absolutley cannot fault is the location. You can get to the Emirates Mall, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall etc within about 10 mins maximum in a cab. Also right next to the hotel is a very long strip of restaurants with pretty much every cuisine in the world available.

Overall a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends for an upmarket stay without the huge price tag.
