“A stay not worth the price paid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We visited Dubai on 26th March for business and were booked in Lotus grand hotel apartment, Al Qiyadah. The entrance to the building was impressive, but the walk to the reception and it was not a pleasant encounter. The apartment are side by side in a lobby which is dark, gloomy. One would feel low walking through the lobby. Our apartment was one bedroom kitchen apt, spacious; but very gloomy as there was no good sunlight. Also it was stinky. The utensils were not wen cleaned since the last guest. Highlight was that the washing machine was a front load semi automatic from 80s, whose door was already broken and when we called the house keeping guy to inform him about it, he came to check and told us that he would open the door with screw driver when we wanted to wash clothes. Also he told us that he would inform reception and change the door lock. In turn it happened so, that after our 5 days of stay when we checked out, reception put the charge on us of 170Dhs for breaking the washing machine door lock; whereas we didn't get to wen use it for once.
Usually we would be out of the room and housekeeping would do the cleaning but one day I was in the apartment when housekeeping came and I could t believe what she did! She folded the used towels (which were wet as used in morning) and kept them back in the bathroom.
Also on booking websites they claim that supermarket is nearby, restaurants are walking distance but actually there is no good supermarket nearby except for a cold store which is dirty.
Overall, we didn't like the apartment, nor the service, nor the neighbourhood. I think Lotus grand as rated 4 star is way too overrated.
I would not recommend anybody to spend so much for such a place!

Ok if you having a stopover in Dubai!
Near the airport and with a hotel transfer included in the price, you don´t really need too much more.
The rooms are spacipous but I have to say the bathrooms really need a liftface.
Breakfast not really appeling but again Ok if you stay for a few hours sleep.
The front office were helpfull.

Room Tip: If you travelling with kids ask for a two bedroom suite, good and spacious but the bathrooms very vu...

We got a three-bedroom apartment, and it was huge. The main room had a king bed, the other two rooms had twin beds, but you could put them together if you want. There was actually another empty room "for the luggage." We had three and a half bathrooms, a kitchen and a living/dining room. The kitchen had a fridge, stove, jug, toaster, microwave, and washing machine.
The location was easy enough to find by car, or five minutes walk from the metro. There were quite a few eating options within ten minutes walk, as well as stores and a couple of medium size supermarkets if you want to cook in the apartment. The pool and gym looked good, but we didn't actually use either. Wifi connection was free and good.

During my stay at Lotus, I realized the location of apartment isn't really good, it is far from city but closer to metro station. Staff was cooperative and nice. You can visit the closer beach anytime "Al Mamzar Beach" which almost 5 minutes drive from Lotus. Prices are affordable. But I will definitely not suggest to try their restaurent. But the area where this hotel apartment is located you will find local arabic and good food, super market, hospital, malls.

When we arrived at the hotel at about 3 pm. our apartment was not ready yet and the receptionist offered us a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience. Breakfast is served buffet style and the choice and variety of dishes will satisfy all tastes.
The rooms are spacious, with modern furniture in the lounge/diner. The kitchen was very dark because one of the overhead lights did not work. There was hardly any crockery or cutlery in the kitchen, only 3 cups, one glass, no teaspoons, only 3 knives and forks, no electric kettle and only a couple of plates. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 adults and 2 small children, and one would expect that the apartment will be equipped for the needs of 6 people. We had to make several requests for extra bedding (none were provided for the children), crockery, cutlery, towels and to call a technician because the AC was not working. We waited 45 mins for housekeeping to bring the necessary items to the room.
The floor of the apartment was very dusty and clearly had not been cleaned in a very long time. After walking barefoot around the lounge a few time, our feet were pitch black and dirty.
The hotel advertises that they provide robes and slippers. Non were provided and also no complimentary drinking water. I think the management should take a bit of time and train the housekeeping staff properly and then check the rooms before guests go in, and also re-equip all the apartments with the necessary crockery en cutlery etc.
However, because of the close proximity to the airport, I will stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Check the kitchen to see that it is adequately equipped for the number of guests occupying the apart...

Stayed at the hotel for 7 nights with Family.
3 Bedrooms apartment in mediocre condition
No hot water in one of the bathrooms
No running hot water in the kitchen
Washing machine run down
Cleaning was extremely poor (Dirty flooring, Dirty carpets in living room)
A/C was too cold. Ibnspite of switching it off, still found the A/C discharging cold air
Balconies were extremely dirty.
Overall needs renovation (Some parts in dilapitated condition)

Checked with the hotel prior to checkin regarding availability of an electric cooker. Was informed the same was available. Upon checkin was informed otherwise. When spoken to the manager about the same, response was shockingly rude. Had to get one from the store across. Not really concerned over a few dirhams, but the principle involved

Roberto at the reception was extremely helpful inspite of the hotel's shortcomings.

Room Tip: Definately avoid the 3 bedroom apartment

I stayed here as part of a very large group (about 30) and we rented out several of the flats. They are large, serviced and clean. For our group we honestly couldn't have asked for much better. The staff were very friendly and helpful and transported us in their buses wherever and whenever we wanted. There was also an adequate gym and a pool.

The downsides were that the kitchens weren't very well equipped. A couple of big pans but we had difficulty getting a kettle and toaster (several apartments ended up sharing a couple of sets). The beds too get getting made up as doubles even though we kept specifying they needed to be singles. The other downside was it was quite noisy as it is next to the airport so bring some earplugs! But other than that, a great place to stay.
