“Nice building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

This is a nice building - pleasing to look at. Good architecture and worth the visit. It is set at the sea and provides for a good backdrop if you wanted to take pictures.

“Always first class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

Having been to this restaurant on many occasions in the past I have no hesitation in recommending it for a special night.

We secured one of the private dining rooms to allow for a bit of a more relaxed experience, as the main dining area is very formal and a lads trip would not be appreciated.

Not a family friendly restaurant by any means, if you want that, then look upstairs and go early.

Great service as every and fantastic food, served in an elegant setting, with a high focus on the enjoyment and general experience of its patrons, no wonder people keep returning to this iconic restaurant, just make sure you leave time to have cocktails at the Sky View first.

They have now allowed you to order the Wagu which is a great step forward, but the set menu we have was absolutely first class.

One not to miss if you are in Dubai

“Very good food, great setting by the aquarium but not good enough for the exorbitant price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

We dined here as I really wanted to visit the Burj al Arab and it claimed to be its signature restaurant.
The aquarium is what makes the room. It is a unique and interesting way to eat. Ask for a table next to the tank. However the rest of the decor (as with the rest of the hotel!) was not to my taste. All a bit bling and just not very tasteful!
The food was mainly very good but as I have had the fortune to eat at many top Michelin starred restaurants, I didn't think it was good enough to justify the prices. Over 50 pounds for starters and 60 plus for mains with the hardest part being no wine under 100 a bottle! And that was for some pretty basic wine that costs 8 pounds in a supermarket in the uk! I know you pay a premium for location but this was hard to justify.
The bill said service was included so we didn't add a tip but then got the impression we were expected to have. However as we were already 400 quid down we left it there!

“A new level in luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

If you ever have the good fortune to visit this hotel, you must. It is so much more than a hotel, it's a preview of the life you wish you had! Book ahead to avoid disappointment.

The restaurant Al Mahara is the best in Dubai, it's suites are magnificent, quite wildly decorated! The upstairs bar hanging off the cliff of the hotel boasts stunning views. In the entrance the fountains will keep you mesmerised. Truly outstanding even after all these years, you can see why it's seven star...
