“Best Location in Bur Dubai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It has best location in Bur Dubai. The neighborhood has small streets full of shops and restaurants. There is Carrefour Supermarket, Meena Bazar, Ibn Batuta Mall, and even a Chinese restaurant nearby. So basically you dont have to go anywhere because you get everything nearby and it is very affordable. You can also take a small ferry to Deira or Gold Souk. The hotel is basically an old property but renovated to provide all the modern amenities. The reception staff are friendly and efficient and I booked my Desert Safari tour through them. There is excellent Indian restaurant with buffet breakfast on offer. It has both veg and non veg options. There is a Night Club on the 1st floor so ask for room on the 3rd or 4th floor. The minibar in the room was empty and there was no facility to make tea or coffee. There was no swimming pool in this hotel but I came to know later on that it has arrangement for its guests to use the swimming pool of Ambassador hotel next door.

I stayed in the hotel in Aug, 2011. The Area is not so happenning. But hotel has good & helping staff and accommodation is also value for money. But the food is "so so...". Indian cuisine needs an improvement.

Stayed at The Astoria Hotel in Dubai in May-2012. Located in Bur Dubai, in the midst of what I would call Little India of dubai.. the hotel is nothing great in terms of style etc, but exceptionally great value for money. The Indian staff, neighbourhood all gives an easy access to Indian food etc etc, and I did find some good Pakistani food too. The shopping enthusiats woudl have lots to look at around here , and the boat taxis to ferry you across the river to dierra is just a walking distance. The hotel has 4 restaurants / clubs, and one can get a good nuight life entertainement here. The best restaurant however is the nepali one Yak and Yeti.. lots of ethnic Nepali music and songs by a group, and I coudl also requet some Hidni songs and they did quite well at at that.. There is more Bon Homie around in Yak and Yeti, with people really enjoy themselves dancing, singing along the singers.. I thought most of the folks were Nepalis living in Dubai.. great atmosphere, much different from the other 3 pubs where the host of chineese hookers are waiting to rip you off..:)

And the food at Yak and Yeti is very good too, alongwith the traditionally suer Nepali service.:)

so if you are looking for a reasonable hotel located in an Indian environment , Astori in Bur Dubai is the place.. I also availed the desert safari arranged by the Hotel..

I stayed in the Astori hotel in Dubai in April 2012. I can say its a good deal. Its a hotel target for Indian crowd. Therefore buffet is mainly Indian. Thats a major set back for this hotel. But if you ask for some extras provided you are not a Indian hotel is willing to provided as no cost.

Location is the biggest advantage of this hotel. From both side of the hotel you can reach lot of shops. And the good thing is these shops have goods at affordable proce. Because prices of goods in large malls are very high. If you like to have Chineese food there is a close by restorent called Golden Fork. Also there is a close by super market. Dubai Museum is also very close. Also Dubai's populer electronic shop Sharf DG' s branch is close by. Wifi is avialable at a cost. I was surprised that there was no tea making facility in the room which is very common in all the hotels in now a days.

Staff at the hotel is very nice and helpful. Its truly a value for money stay. If the hotel can provide more varity on food it can attract more customers.

Room Tip: Level 4 is better as the Disk is at level 2.

On our trip back from Istanbul, we had 4 nights stopover in Dubai.. still wondering why didn't I changed this Hotel before arriving. Nothing special to mention, as soon as you approach near you are welcomed by hordes of prosts... A dilapidated property, outdated amenities, old rooms, empty mini-bar, no tea-coffee maker, breakfast with Indian menu was just average.. above all dance bars and night club will make the rest of your time as you wish...choose between sleep or party the whole night....strictly no for businessmen, families or I would not even recommend leisure travelers...

Room Tip: all the rooms are same if possible go on 4 th floor

I have stayed at the Astoria Hotel in Dubai on at least fifteen occasions, all on business travel.

The rooms are good, the food tasty and they will always make me something of my choice and to my taste off the standard menu, the staff friendly and helpful and the location convenient for my work, and for an evening stroll past the shops in the area.

On my last two trips to Dubai, I made the mistake of staying at a supposedly more luxurious hotel suggested by my agent. Big mistake. The warmth, friendliness, efficiency and service of the Astoria was missing from the 'luxury' hotel.

For sure, I will be staying at the Astoria on all my future trips to Dubai.

I had stayed in Astoria in Sept 2011.My experience was very very good. The good part of the hotel is ,it is centrally located. You don't have to go elsewhere for shopping, because everything is near by walking distance.Food is excellent. What i saw in the hotel was it was full & mostly Gujarati families were staying.Whereas i had heard that the hotel is not good for families. But seeing all the families staying, especially Gujarati families,i am thinking of taking my family in my next visit.Staffs are good & supportive.Breakfast is very good.BEST HOTEL IN UAE in 3* category.Once in a lifetime who must visit Astoria Hotel.
