“OUTSTANDING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Words cannot describe our stay once again at the Bab Al Shams Resort & Spa. It is our 7th visit here. This time our stay was with our daughter and 8th month old baby. It felt more as a big family home than a holiday resort. Everything was so personalised from the one of a kind kids club to the pool attendants to the house keeping staff, private dining and the great waiters & chefs. The resorts cleanliness and child friendly environment and excellent management makes us visit this extraordinary one of a kind resort time & time again.
The assistant manager & his team go out of their way to make sure that everything is to perfection and all your expectations are exceeded to a point that words cannot describe.
The food is exemplary and the presentation and service is excellent and is a food lovers paradise.
Our 4 year old daughter was hardly seen by us as she really enjoyed the kids club which carried out so many activities including arts and craft classes, puppet shows, origami and painting.
The staff are all very highly trained and polite and assist with a smile.
The swimming pool area is very child friendly and is very secure with very attentive and friendly life guards.
We would highly recommend this resort for a perfect hide away holiday for couples and families a great place to spend quality time with loved ones.

Bab al shams is a very special place and for us we are already planning to book our next holiday at this resort. It just gets better and better.

Many thanks to the Great team at Bab Al Shams Resort and Spa and see you soon

After a busy week’s sightseeing in Dubai, we arrived mid-afternoon for a two-nights’ stay at this beautiful resort. Check-in couldn’t have been smoother and more helpful (and conducted by a fellow-Austrian country-woman – Rebekka - danke schoen!!!) and our dinner options and allowances (we had booked half-board) were explained to us in detail. I had requested an upstairs room with balcony and that was exactly what we got. And what a room – we just loved all the little touches aimed at creating an authentic Middle-Eastern experience (yes, you’ve guessed it, I AM a sucker for Arabic-style lamps, cushions and the like), not to mention the fruit plate and box of delicious chocolates that arrived only minutes after we had started unpacking!
The entire resort complex is full of cosy, characterful nooks and crannies with a lantern here and some Berber-style cushions there which offer plenty of options for finding your own little intimate corner to relax in. While we stayed during the busiest time (Thursday afternoon to Saturday morning) we always had the feeling that we could escape the other guests if we so wished. This is also helped by the fact that there are multiple beautiful swimming-pools of varying depths and plenty of sunbathing areas – preventing it from feeling too crowded. Service in all areas of the resort was fantastic – if I wanted to be overly critical I’d say it was almost over-attentive (we really don’t need a pool attendant carrying our towels for us and insisting on tucking them over our sunbeds for us… still, it was nice!) The business centre was excellent – within minutes and at no extra cost was I able to check in for our next flights and print our boarding passes. Our early morning taxi back to the airport, which we had asked for when checking-in arrived exactly on time the next morning and charged only AED 130 back to DBX.
We enjoyed seeing the falcons and camels in the late afternoon (it was good to see how deeply the falconer cared about his birds having even a little spray bottle at hand with which he would gently douse them every so often!) Having been told by various people that the Al Hadeerah experience was a must we booked for Thursday night and did not regret it at all! I normally hate Disney-style re-productions but the Dervish/Camel/Belly-dancer show was fantastic entertainment and the buffet simply overwhelming. While AED 425 (495 at weekends) per person is quite a steep price, we found that with our HB discount and an Entertainer voucher we only ended up paying AED 285 for the two of us – definitely worth it! We ate breakfast and our second dinner at Al Forsan restaurant and found the buffet selections to be extensive in range and excellent in quality. It was also nice to have the option of sitting outside (Emiratis probably think we are mad but if you live in Northern Ireland, sitting outside on a warm evening is the stuff dreams are made of!)
On our last night we treated ourselves to drinks and a Shisha pipe at the rooftop bar where we sat under a million stars and wished we never had to leave!

40km away from Dubai, for the night or just the day (AED 500 per adult, half for kids for a day pass = NOT cheap)

The venue is very nicely done, with a nice pool, not crowded nor too big.

Brunch Buffet is of good quality.

The activities for kids (camel little tour, pony tour, kids club) are excellent.
In the evening, the falcon show is very entertaining as well.

I definitely recommend it, if you can spare the dirhams

We stayed during a weekend in May 2013. The resort is easily accessible from Dubai but offers a totally different experience.
The hotel is nicely designed and feels like a real oasis. The rooftop bar is lovely at sunset and the terraced swimming pools offer a welcome retreat from the heat. The service is excellent and the food at the two restaurants we ate in (breakfast buffet and Al Hadheerah restaurant) was very good. Indeed the latter is a desert restaurant which we thought may be very touristy, but it is well worth the experience as the food is excellent and the evening is well planned.
The hotel transport staff to and from the airport were great and there is a daily free shuttle service into Dubai which is worth the trip.
The room felt a bit tired and could do with a lick of paint (a few ancient swatted mosquitos on the walls), but was otherwise very clean.
The only thing we would not recommend is the hotel's desert jeep safari, which lasts for 1 hour, costs a lot and which only visits small size dunes near the hotel. Better go for a longer tour to the more dramatic desert further afield.

This resort is located in the midst of desert. Designed is traditional Arabian architecture, the resort provides a real luxury. The staff were very polite, helpful and ever smiling. The rooms were quite clean but we did notice a couple of cockroaches in the bathroom. The rooms in the upper floors provide a good view of the desert from the Balcony. The exotic dinner at Hadeerah's was fantastic, followed by a Camel Caravan and Horse show. This place also has a heritage village where one can get to see a replica of Dubai Heritage museum. The pool is quite good with a nice baby pool for the kids. In all an expensive resort but i would say it is worth all the money you spend.

Room Tip: Rooms in the upper floors (other than Ground) are good.

After spending one night here with family I'm looking forward to any excuse to return, excellent service and facilities. The spa is very good and also the Al Huadhreaa buffet with live Arabic music and dancing is a great experience especially for tourists.
One word of advice..if you want to book horse riding then book this privately as you pay almsot twice the price when booking through the hotel...we found this out too late but will remember for next time. Overall a very enjoyable stay, suitable for all ages.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor near the spa and was very quiet, I assume rooms nearer the restauran...
