Really nice place , good facilities and excellent service, especially by the pools and at breakfast. Excellent rooms in unique styles. All in all, a great experience.

The Hotel Was Nice ...
But the look of the rooms were kinda retro.
The Main Problem we had was while havin dinner @ the desert restaurant we already did the reservation & when arrived @ the restaurant our reservation was not present there in the list & we had to wait 1 hour to get seated.

I have stayed in the hotel on three occasions in 2011, last being for Xmas, each time we have bought family or friends, still fantastic, the staff are very good, although check in and check out is still one of my beefs from every hotel i visit and Bab Al Shams is definiately not the quickest, spent xmas eve in Al Hadeerah Restaurant which was very nice, camels walking in the hills at the back, men on horses re-enacting a tribal fight. The xmas day lunch was fantastic, very very busy, and apart from having to keep asking for a parasol, as was sitting outside in the sun, it eventually arrived and considering how busy it was the staff did an excellent job, with the most amazing food choice as also for the Al Hadeerah, they even managed to find some gluten free bread for me. Rooms are great, and the bathroom, especialy the tub, down side is the lighting in the room is way too dark, they should have a discrete extra modern light with at least a 100 watt bulb, got given lots of nice extras in the room at xmas which was a nice touch, i am planning on coming back in a couple of months times for a weekend. Previously the service around the pool was not good, but has improved. The gym has some equipment that was not working properly but otherwise highly recommend resort if you want to get away from it all and really relax.

Arrived at this resort in the early hours of the morning after a long flight from Sydney and it really was quite spectacular. Checking in was quick and all the staff were very helpful. Our room was just the standard room but it was still great - first floor, little balcony overlooking the desert, tea and coffee facilites, great king bed, a lovely bathroom with all the normal amenities.

On the first day we signed up for horse riding (all activities are charged by the way - except to play table tennis!) and then spent the afternoon lazing by the stunning pool. Staff brought over complimentary fruit on sticks for us, laid out our towels on the sun beds, service with a smile. There were nice little touches throughout our stay from complimentary camel rides and bird show, to turn down service and fruit and dates stuffed with nuts left for us in the evening.

We also ate the the buffet restaurant - Al Hadeerah - my partner and I had so much fun there. It's not totally 'authentic' but I think you just take it for what it is...we thought the entertainment was great - dancing, singers, a little show with horses and camels walking across the horizon, fireworks... all under desert stars. The food was expansive as well. A poultry and meat area, rice, breads, dips and sides, kebabs, a fish and seafood section, loads of different desserts. I think I tried to eat one of each dessert! We loved it!

It's not cheap but it's only 1 hour away from Dubai city and it was totally worth it!

Beautiful hotel and cracking accomodation, food is excellent. However it is around half hour drive from Dubai so would not stay here if you wish to sample life in Dubai. Great for a couple of nights luxury in the desert with an infinity pool and a number of restaurants. Food and drinks are quite expensive though.

I went with a couple of friends to Bab Al Shams and it was AMAZING. Its a desert resort with pools and restaraunts. One of THE BEST resorts in Dubai. After a dip in the pool go ride a camel in the sunset or walk on the arabian's desert 's soft sand. Its a wonderful place for family&friends!
