“Amazing, just amazing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

I went with a couple of friends to Bab Al Shams and it was AMAZING. Its a desert resort with pools and restaraunts. One of THE BEST resorts in Dubai. After a dip in the pool go ride a camel in the sunset or walk on the arabian's desert 's soft sand. Its a wonderful place for family&friends!

I organised 6 rooms for friends to share in my husband birthday. The place had such ambience. Beautifully done, it was quiet but brillant service from the staff. If only I could afford another night, we would all be back immediately! Thank you for all birthday treats my husband received.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a a small patio

We have just returned from the Bab Al Shams and overall it was a lovely experience Its like staying at an amazing Arabian palace with so many little interesting courtyards and an amazing pool area.
The rooms are very authentic feeling but maybe a little bit on the small size for the price. There were lovely little touches like boxes of dates and fresh fruit in our room every day.It is such a wonderful tranquil contrast to the busyness of Dubai!
The restaurants are nice if not a little bit on the expensive side and if like me you're not a massive buffet fan then you don't have much choice.
I did feel however that some of the staff are maybe not aware that they are working in a 5 star resort. In particular the reception staff and the bar staff. The check in experience was a bit hap hazard,no one to greet us or tell us where to go,we were eventually served by a very nice English man but other than him we found the staff behind reception to be a little unfriendly. It would also be nice to have Wifi in the room.I think in this day and age it really should be available.
Overall though I would highly recommend the Bab al Shams and I look forward to returning again next year!

Room Tip: We had a beautiful desert view which I would recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights and regret not staying any longer, it was a wonderful experience, i had read the reviews here on tripadvisor and also had a family member who had stayed here before so knew what to expect. and have to admit i wasnt disappointed.

To start with the check wa smooth no hassles here, we had arrived early in the morning so we had to wait a bit as the hotel was running full, we waited at the pool whcih was a excellent part of the hotel. we got a lovely room, nice and good. lovely toilet & shower etc.

The breakfast was good, the outside seating area is great, we got it the 2nd day, the 1st day it was full, fair enough.

we had fresh fruits in our room every evening and arabic Dates with almonds to eat for evening which were also delicious.

all in all a hotel which i would definately book again when i need to relax a few days in Dubai. away from everything.

Wonderful calm resort. Great service.... lots of little treats delivered to your sun lounger and room throughout the day.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms with their own patio which gives a lovely bit of outdoor space.

Visiting Dubai is certainly about the new age but Bab Al Shams is a marvellous place to experience the architecture, the life style, the charms and dignity of an earlier era. A collection of traditional buildings and wonderful spaces with beautiful pools, Date Palms, carpets and bolsters. The hotel is surrounded by sensuous dunes best enjoyed from the rooftop restaurants at sunset.
The welcome and guidance at arrival, the caring staff and excellent, personable restaurant services could not be faulted. The hotel is 45 minutes from Dubai centre and can be comfortably visited for its restaurants and entertainment.... better still, stay the night and enjoy breakfast in one of the subtlely decorated courtyards. As a resident of Dubai, it is our favourite place to take visitors.
I hasten to add,the best experience is the setting, restaurants and building character. We have on numerous occasions spoken with tourists who were staying in the hotel and they enjoyed it so, the reviews on this hotel by others could probably be countered by many more who had a positive experience.
