“Nice location right at the fountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

This restaurants has a nice interior design and a lovely terrace right next to the fountains. Whilst sitting on the terrace you can watch the fountain show several times during an evening meal.
The food nice. Traditional Thai with a modern twist. The flavors were well balanced.
Service was friendly and unobtrusive.
Would only come here again on a special occasion as it is on the more expensive side.

“Thai-riffic!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We had a lovely meal at Thiptara whilst stay at The Palace. The food was not cheap but it was very much worth the price. You can't complain about the view either - the Dubai Fountains and the Burj Khalifa!!! Think you need to book in advance to get a table outside.

“Amazing location! Lousy food....Not really Thai!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

The ambience is amazing with lovely views overlooking the fountain at the Dubai Mall. The decor is breath taking but the food is extremely disappointing.

We visited the place, as my son had good experience in the past but then he said that the out of five time, four was good but one was disappointing. He was with us and that makes it his sixth time - two of which are disappointing - 33% failure!

The starter Tofu was just right but the deep in sauces appeared to be ready made. The prawn crackers were tasty and very good!

Two out of three main course order were really bad - the chicken was chewy and the soft shell crab in yellow curry was stodgy. We had ordered a veg green curry for my wife and asked for medium, but it turned out to be too mild and over sweet. The server took it back to make it more spicy. The food seems to have been adopted to suit diners who can't have authentic thai spicy taste.

The manager was very helpful and the chef came out to take up the complaint and also offered an extra dish of complementary chicken - though a good gesture, we just tasted the dish. It was okay but nothing outstanding.

The real authentic taste of Thai was missing - I initially thought that it was day off for the chef but then when you go for fine dining, one would expect the best.

The management attitude is commendable and also offered that next time, she would take better care, unfortunately, I wouldn't be going back again.

“Veeery good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Very nice meal, good choices and no children. Located within the luxurious "The Palace" hotel just in front of the Dubai fountains which gives some magnificent shots. The ambiance is very well maintained within the restaurant, smiley service, and delicious courses. The only disappointing part was that some meals as the famous "tom yum goong" was not as spicy as it should be in a Thai restaurant.

“Up the Thai experience...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Came here a total of 2 times. Yes, it's that good. If you come here during the night, make a reservation to sit outside so you have nothing in the way from the view of the fountains and the Burj shooting straight up the sky. The food and service are on par for the location and what you would expect for a high end restaurant...but this is all about the view...you will almost forget what you ate, but you won't forget leaning back in your chair and having a good conversation with whomever is with you while enjoying the spectacular background.
