When my friend and I booked a short visit to Dubai, on the top of our list was a visit to the iconic Burj Al Arab for afternoon tea.
Wow, what a view! The bar overlooks the turquoise Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline, 27 floors below. In addition to the incredible view, the food was wonderful too. A glass of sparkling date juice to begin (it was Ramadan, so champagne was not being served), followed by dates, strawberry shortbread, a slice of roast beef with puréed potatoes (not very 'afternoon tea', but delicious all the same), cute little sandwiches, cakes and scones, and finally a lychee and rose sorbet. The quantity was immense; the quality exceptional. After the tea we were each presented with a little box of petits fours to take away.
The staff were wonderful. Very attentive and professional and contributed to making the experience one I will remember forever.
Thank you Burj Al Arab - you are awesome!
