“Great "Downtown Dubai" / Business BaY location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Have stayed twice now to make sure the first experience wasn't a fluke (they were just too nice that first trip ... but not a fluke!). Service is absolutely great in all areas and there is plenty of staff on hand for questions and directions - which is just as well as the place is huge (not even counting the 67 stories of the tallest dedicated hotel in the world!). Gym is large and well equipped with lots of cardio options and plenty of machines and free weights (I have used a dozen hotel gyms in Dubai and this ranks very high on the list); pool is long for laps; executive lounge covers an entire floor; have tried three of the food/bar establishments and all are excellent - got a real "black and blue" steak at Prime 68 - don't miss the 72nd floor cocktail bar for the view! Taxis are plentiful if needed, and if driving, you have easy access to either direction on the E11 (just look first at a map for the back route that gets you to the road towards Abu Dhabi). It is close to DIFC, Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa and splits the difference in tourist sights for old Dubai / Dubai Creek and Marina, I'd say it is a "business" hotel but I have seen lots of shorts and flip-flops ... so maybe I should take the hint ... and a vacation ...

Stayed here due to Emirates missed connection... Turned out to be a real bonus. Large spacious room, huge bathroom with freestanding bath and shower enclosure. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The best part for me was Kitchen 6 and the food stations, absolutely exceptional dishes presented and served, outstanding, delicious, wonderful food, foodies heaven
You should visit the bar at the top, amazing views of skyline and Burj Kalifa. I would definitely stay again if I returned to Dubai.

I encountered only one issue with my stay ... the hotel was so new that taxi drivers didn't know where it was.

Room: excellent. Grosvenor House tower 2 standard.

Breakfast: very good, currently not quite up to the Grosvenor House, but will probably get there.

Restaurants: the steak restaurant at the top near the cigar lounge is superb. Views great as well.

French brasserie: very good, nice fresh bread.

Location: near Dubai Mall. However there didn't appear to be anything within walking distance.

Overall: on my list of places to stay in Dubai.

What a hotel. Checked in at 6am after a 13hr flight. Hotel has 24hr check in so check out was 6am the next day. Perfect.
Staff were fantastic and all the bar on the I think 78th floor took your breath away. Very nice clean large rooms and very nice bathroom. Loved it.

I stayed at this hotel from 05 - 10 March 2013, wow I was very impressed!

Great things;

1. Excellent service during the checkin
2. The room is excellent, I love the bath, very confortable bed...
3. Being a messy person, all my clothes were nicely folded everyday
4. The view from my room was incredible, even if I wasn't facing the ocean.
5. The sport bar & last floor loundge was excellent

One thing that I didn't like;

- price for the WIFI (internet) that was very expensive (30,00$ per day).

In conclusion, I will definately stay there again during my next visit to Dubai.

There are a lot of great things to say about this hotel:

Great Food:
Kitchen 6 - breakfast & lunch buffets had excellent variety of Middle-Eastern, American, Indian and Asian cuisine. I had most of my meals at Kitchen 6.
La Ferine - loved their baquette sandwiches
Izakaya - great sushi (smaller portions)

Superb service! - my husband took advantage of the complimentary shoe shine service and there was a reasonable fee for pressing his 2 suits. His suits and shoes came back within 2 hours. Wonderful staff all around!

Beautiful Rooms! - VERY spacious bathrooms with walk-in rain showers. We were on the 61st floor with a great view of the Persian Gulf and World Islands. (cannot go outside on balcony though for safety reasons)

Beautiful decor all throughout the hotel, from lobby, to bars & lounges to business meeting rooms.
The location is very good, located within the Business Bay. They have a shuttle which runs every 20 minutes to the Dubai Mall and even the Mall of Emirates (where Ski Dubai is located). All you need to do is get to the Dubai Mall to access the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains. You must take a taxi to the Gold Souk or beach.

No major complaints, however there are some things on my list they could have improved:
- Long wait time for elevators (this is the tallest hotel in the world and so of course the elevators are not quick, so leave yourself an extra 10 minutes to access an elevator)
- The room key cards did not work very well for most people when accessing different floors on the elevators. In order to access the floor rooms, guests must wave their key cards on a sensor. I witnessed a lot of problems with their technology on these sensors. On top of the long elevator wait times, many guests were frustrated when the sensors didn't work and they couldn't access their floors. They really need to fix this.
- Below average pool in my opinion. Pool was much smaller than what I would expect for a 5-star hotel. There was not enough lounge space. The courtyard next to the pool was much bigger than the pool area itself. They use this space for night time events, however it is wasted space during the day. Although it's always nice to relax and lounge at a pool, this one was a little boring and left much to be imagined!

Overall, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in A6105 (tower A, standard room on 61st floor)

We were transiting with Dubai when we stayed. Arrived exhausted at 2am and the staff were very good at getting us up to our room quickly (couldn't say the same about Emirates at the airport unfortunately but thats a different story). Room is spacious and very well appointed. Bathroom was very impressive with a wonderful bath. Breakfast had a decent buffet with a mix of cuisines on offer. I would stay here again but prefer if it was more than a flying visit.
