“Honeymoon Part II”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We stayed here in Aug '12 on the second leg of our Honeymoon, having spent 2 weeks in the Maldives. It was a natural choice as our flights from Glasgow connect in Dubai.

The hotel was lovely, I just wasn't completely blown away. I have stayed in a wide variety of hotels worldwide, including some really high end, and I was just expecting a bit more. I could just put this down to the fact that it was Dubai though, and maybe everyone's expectations are higher.

The hotel is around 30mins from the Airport, but they do lay on FOC transport to the big Malls. Strangely, they don't offer return transport, so bear this in mind.

We were on a HB basis, which was fine, but beware that if you venture off the set menu, it will cost you more than what you could hope to get for your left kidney. The food was excellent, esp. the breakfast - I've never seen such a comprehensive buffet... steak for breakfast anyone? How about honey, on the comb?

The hotel seemed pretty empty when we were there, not much life going on, busier at night though, with a good buzz around the place.

Swimming pool was top notch, and service was as you would expect - excellent.

Rooms are lovely, big, comfortable, but try to get one with a pool / gulf view. Strangely, no tea / coffee in room, but the not-quite-so mini minibar is very comprehensive, even though you'll now be looking for the highest offer on your right kidney if you choose to help yourself.

Not quite sure what our room rate was as it was part of our honeymoon package, but I've heard that around £800-£1000 per night is about right. If that was the case, I personally don't think it's good value, but hey, you're in Dubai!

We have just returned from another wonderful stay at this hotel, the 6th time ! The low rise, the garderns the wonderful selection of restaurants, the staff make this a real oasis in the Glitz of Dubai. we had a small problem with one of the restaurants, and the next day we were having a drink in the jetty bar, and we got talking to this member of staff, whom we had never met before. We had a general chit chat, and then he addressed us by our mr and mrs name, spoke of our problem the previous evening, said it had been discussed at the morning meeting, and apologised!! He was the under manager for bars and restaurants in the resort! It was very reassuring, that they take time to meet up with guests and smooth everything out!!

The whole ambiance of the hotel is calm and friendly, lots of the staff have been there for years, and even remember us from previous trips We have sometime stayed in the gold club but this time stayed in the main hotel, and its just as good, just dont get afternoon tea, and cocktails!!!

will be going again as its perfect for 5nights R&R

The hotel is located on Jumeirah Beach and consists of three properties. The Palace, the Arabian Court and the Residence and Spa, which is perhaps the plushest of the three. My wife and I have just returned from spending a week in the Palace. The hotel grounds for the three properties are enormous and a shuttle service which runs every 15 minutes transfers you to and fro them.

The Palace is a fabulous hotel. The public room are sumptuous and elegantly laid out. There are four restaurants offering a wide range of international and Arabic dishes as well as a traditional 'grill' type restaurant. All have impressive menus and the quality of food served is exemplary. Every single dinner we ate was superb. We are now in need of a personal trainer in order to shed the pounds. Even the very elegant coffee/tea shop is worth a visit for that very English afternoon team with scones and cream. A selection of cakes is on offer also.

Our bedroom was well laid out with views of the beach and had a balcony area. Absolutely huge bed. Good entertainment options including a dvd player. The bathroom with bath, shower and a private wc is elegantly equipped.

The only slightly negative comment I have is that the view from the private beach is less than impressive although the beach are itself is very pleasant.

Staff are efficient, courteous and friendly without being obtrusive. A wonderful place to spend some time. The grounds are equally impressive also.

My husband & I travelled in January for our second stay. The first holiday was about 9years ago so we did notice the difference with all of the building that had gone on around the hotel!
We enjoyed our week and had taxis to the marina & the Walk as there are still road alterations ongoing outside the hotel . Dubai is not walking friendly ! We also went to the Dubai Mall, Kamara & the Gold souq.
Our first few days we sat around the pool, plenty of sun beds but after a while we were not happy with all of the birds , very noisy! I think it was nesting time as one day we left our newspaper on our table while we went for a stroll on the beach and when we returned the birds ( like our starlings) had shredded the front page! The hotel did replace the paper for us. It may not be the same if you stayed later in the year. The hotel had said that they did get a falcon in to try and resolve the problem but then all of the "bird"guests complained ,so they had to stop using the Falcon.

Our room was very nice , on the 3rd floor and very quiet apart from a couple of nights where the boats arrive in the bay with constant disco music playing into the early hours! views to the sea, but not much else because of all of the tall palm trees around the pools.
We had most of our meals in the Olives as we were half board, but we did go to the Celebrities restaurant which was excellent. I must admit towards the end of our stay we were tiring of the food in the Olives in the evenings.!
A couple of mornings it was misty for a few hours and some planes were diverted but it cleared by late morning. The weather all the week was just the right temperature, not unbearable heat that you would get later in the year.
The grounds were immaculate and the beach (private) was very clean with plenty of sun beds . The staff came around topping up your glasses of water or cleaning your sun glasses for you also fresh fruit on cocktail sticks most afternoons.
All the staff were very friendly and very helpful.

We will return to the O&O next year but perhaps have a room at the Residence, as we like the fact that it is not one of the high rise hotels that have been built further up the beach.

Room Tip: A ground floor room opening up onto the lawns as there is not much of a view from higher floors!

We've stayed at all the One & Only Hotels in Dubai and couldn't find fault with any of them. Prefer the Palace but only because we've had such lovely rooms there it is hard to want to try somewhere else. The restaurants in the resort are lovely and the 'eat all you can' buffet was just an amazing choice of foods. The service in the hotel is first class from the moment you arrive and on our first visit I asked the Concierge if he could book a surprise Rolls royce to take me and my wife to the Burj for drinks. He said: "Certainly Sir. What type of Rolls Royce would you like and what colour?" I mean - how much better can it get. We found all the staff, particularly around the pool area, really very friendly and we've been back 6 times in the past 2 years so that tells you a lot about the quality. Highly recommended.

a little late in reviewing this hotel never been to Dubai before and chose the palace because of the trip advisor reviews and was not disappointed the room was superb overlooking the palm
the grounds were immaculate the pools superb the beach was lovely the staff were friendly and always had a pleasant word to say i had reserved a gold room and was worth the extra pounds if only for the afternoon tea which was delicious never missed the four days i was there the breakfast in celebrities outstanding we were on half board terms so we dined out at the various restaurants all of them were very good now the question everybody should ask would i go back to the palace yes most definitely and are doing so later this year

We had never stayed here before and hard to fault but not special. Our room had a few issues like shower not working properly and curtain pulls falling apart and stained surfaces. Everything was there but it just seemed a bit "stiff" and whilst all the staff were helpful priced was always just that too high IMHO
