Stayed for a weeks holiday at the Hilton Dubai Creek 17/5/9 to 24/5/9. Excellent hotel staff all very helpful. Lovely room overlooking the creek. Breakfast was included in our trip and was delicious and we didnt need to eat again all day after that! (OK did try out room service once or twice which was excellent!).Small roof top pool lovely and refreshing and fantastic views.Gym good enough for when you are on holiday!
The hotel has a sister hotel on the Jumeirah Beach front and you can get a courtesy shuttle bus leaving at 11am and returning at 4pm.(Make sure you book this via the concierge as it got busy). We spent a couple of days at The Hilton on the beach and it was excellent and worth the trip. Also you can use the courtesy bust to get you to the other side of town instead of catching a taxi as its about a 30 minute ride which otherwise youd get a taxi for. You are not obliged to catch it back so if your plans change thats fine.
The hotel is actually situated close to the creek and you can catch a small boat along the creek to the textile souks ( about £1 each) and then you catch other boats over to the spice and gold souks. Its a 10 minute (rather hot) walk to the Dubai City Mall which is open until midnight and has a takeaway food area should you fancy something to eat but dont want to actulally go out for a meal as such. There are taxis readily available at the hotel.Use the ones with the coloured roofs as they are cheaper than the other "luxury" ones and perfectly acceptable and reasonably priced.
We went on a desert safari which included wadi bashing (driving a 4 wheel drive over the dunes), sand boarding, a very short camel ride, a barbeque, a belly dancer and some local clothes to dress up in! Good fun and Id recommend it.
Also try out Ski Dubai, which is in the Emirates shopping mall. It was about 200 dirhams for 4 hours (£35) and you get the clothing and ski hire for that (Take your own hat and gloves as these are not provided)
Wild Wadi was a good fun day out too.It is a water park situated in the shadow of the Burj al Arab.
The new Dubai Mall is a fantastic sight with an ice rink, a huge aquarium, fashion shows , musicians performing and a magnificent fountain diplay set to music (as at the Bellagio in Las Vegas). Every shop you can think of has a store there and I think its the largest mall in the world.(right next to the largest building)
This hotel was in a perfect location for us as had we stayed on the beach theres a good chance we wouldnt have bothered to explore as much as we did.
It is only about 15 minutes drive from the airport so if you havent sorted out transpot a taxi ride shouldnt cost you much at all. No issues with airplane noise though which was good.
Fantastic time and Id definitely use this hotel again for a holiday. It seemed to be used part business and part holidaymakers so the pool area is not usually too busy
Dubai is amazing.Definitely go....
