“Clean and friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

The Hotel is about a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport. The trip to the hotel was a little hair raising. There are two speeds around the built up, busy city of Dubai, 120km or stationary. I couldn’t help but let out a couple of strangled screams and sharp in takes of breath as we hurtled around Dubai. Brakes are applied aggressively and often and seat belts are not compulsory.
The Hotel Ascot was fine, appeared to be clean and well maintained. The decor was fairly dark and heavy and seemed to reflect a bygone era, perhaps insperation was drawn from its name and an older English style establishment or gentlemens club. The toilet was interesting.... it had a round seat, not the normal oval shape I was used to. However, the service was good, the breakfast was good, we did not lack for anything to eat and staff were attentative. We also arranged a couple of tours for the day from the hotel, which were a great introduction to Dubai.

I had gone for a business conference and stayed at the hotel with a group of partners. The place is very central and has access to the Metro, Great place for shopping ( opposite to Meena bazaar). The room was spacious and had good lighting & decor.. We stayed for 5 nites.. The morning breakfast was sumptuous and overall a great place for food as they had almost about 8 different restaurants (inside the hotel & next door Royal Ascot which are connected together).

Stayed here for 3 nights in august,2013. location is good, very close to metro , 5-7 mins walk.. Hotel is just oppsite to meena bazar, really foodie place.Supermarts, money exchange, perfume stores, restraunts etc are just 5 mins walk away,, easy access to taxi as well..

.Though its a good 4 star hotel. I arrived there at 6am , I was lucky enough, the hotel allowed me to checkin that early :) Secondly within the hotel they have 2 pubs which are open till 3AM, it could be problem for families sleeping on time, but was not at all for me :) couple of night clubs are just walk by, so there I saved on the taxis :P Rooms was up to date as per 4 star standards,One thing which was really unexpected i.e. NO FREE WIFI! Common its 2013 charge reasonable for WIFI 60 Dhiram for 24 hours !!!! Way toooo high.... though room had no balcony but was fine for me.The staff are all Asians, were really helpful in every manner...Highly recommended for young people & solo travellers.

Room Tip: This is a 4-5 storey hotel, on the top you have 2 PUBS, if with family, or couple then avoid towards...

Our room smelled of damp and mildew, which permeated all my clothes.
The bathroom had peeling paint on the ceiling and there were damp patches on the bedroom ceiling.
The enamel in the bath was peeling off; the shower sprayed onto the ceiling, and the shower head did not work properly.
The damp and mildew smell caused a severe asthma attack - not impressed.
The temperature outside was 49 degrees and the air conditioning would not cool the room sufficiently.
The reception staff were very unfriendly, but the porters and other staff were fantastic.
The location was great.

Was surprised by size of the room provided.Felt it is too small for a star hotel. The location is a plus point as the market is near by and metro is walkable distance.Danish pastries were delicious.
Royal Ascot hotel in the adjacent building may offer better options

Decent... Staff not really that friendly. Rooms are very small. Benefits, close to the metro and its on the main road where its easy to get a cab. Near local super makets and souvenir shops which was nice. Dont have high expectations when looking into this hotel 3* at the most.

The best thing about Ascot Hotel is the location of the Hotel, it is just opposite to the Great Meena Bazar....Where you can find Good Indian Restaurants and a good market to buy cheap stuff....Its a 3 star hotel with nice rooms and good room service. They have Russian and Indian Restaurants. In Indian restaurant they organize Mehfil from 9 pm till 5 am but you need to have prior reservations.
