Everytime I find myself in Dubai, I try to visit the Burj Khalifa district to hook up with friends and take in the views as well as the water fountain show after sunset. As such, I have had the chance to eat at Zahr el Laymoun quite a few times. My most recent time confirmed what I had been experiencing in terms of declinig quality of service: because of its location, people walk in and the place gets full and THEN good luck getting someone to take your order. You need even more luck catching someone if you want to order additional items or have a comment. While the menu is rich and offers a nice variety, what good is it when you have to wait half a lifetime only to get tepid food? What was truly disturbing is that once past the delays and multiple requests, one of their staff members asks my friend:" Are you sure this is not good?" and at first refused to replace the order!!! This is Dubai for Pete's sake! Service is normally stellar all over the place. Needless to say, we asked for our bill and moved somewhere where we were taken care of. The saddest part is that we could see the staff practically hover around the tables with large parties right next to ours and almost ignore smaller parties like ours. And the thing is that there at least a dozen comparable eateries across the small pedestrian bridge outside the mall building. This used to be a good place but for me not anymore.
