“Best thing I did in Dubai ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014 via mobile

I have been to Dubai before and did the usual tourist things, but only because I did not know about SMCCU. I found this place via TripAdvisor and booked the 1.5 hrs historic walking tour as well as the cultural lunch. Our guide, Nasif, was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He was willing to answer any questions and encouraged everyone to participate. Dubai has a rich culture and history, none of which I knew about before and this was the highlight of our visit this time. Lunch was equally interesting. The food was tasty, and gave us a feel for what traditional meals are like. Very interesting and I encourage everyone going to Dubai to pay them a visit. By train get off at Al fahidi station, otherwise you can take an Abbra from the gold souk over to the other side. If taking the train, the website gives walking instructions. About a 10min walk.

“A worthwhile Learning Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We have visited Dubai several times but hadn't previously visited this Centre. We enjoyed the process and open communication and willingness to talk and discuss. Well worth the visit.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Great way to get an overview of Emirati life - especially the whole Islam culture. We went on a walking tour and then stayed on for the cultural brunch - it was really worthwhile and my visitors said it was the highlight of their trip - even the teenagers!

“Do the Lunch with an Emirati”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

The Emiratis are not always that accessible, so this was a great opportunity to eat "local" food and ask questions. Would say it was somewhat biased but really enjoyed the museum to understand the history from pearl diving to oil and the present day. Definitely a must do!

“Highlight of my visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

I was really impressed with the experience I had at the SMCCU. I combined the historic walking tour with the traditional lunch. There are a few options for tours and traditional food (brunch, lunch etc). Our guide was funny, informative and encouraged us to ask lots of questions, nothing was off limits. They also have traders in the historic village ( which is actually a restored traditional village, not a replica) so you can pick up a few souvenirs while you are there. The traditional lunch was tasty and they even offered take away containers if people wanted to take leftovers home (so great option if you are on a tight budget, two meals for the price of one!). Worth every cent of the admission price, this was a highlight of my 3 day stay in Dubai.
