We had an overnight stay at the Movenpick Deira.
We arrived early at the hotel (08:00am), although the booking said the earliest check in was at 14:00, the receptionist went out of her way to accommodate us as best as she could. No rooms were immediately available, but she gave us access to the pool & gym facilities, until a room was ready for us a few hours later.
Our room was large, very clean, modern with a King size bed that was the most comfortable sleep I've had in ages. The hotel is located in the down-town part of Dubai, with easy access to the shopping malls, and most attractions.
We had the breakfast buffet, which offered a wide range of hot and cold food, and was pretty good.
We used the bar at the hotel, but found it to be a bit soulless and dark.
The pool is on the roof of the hotel, which is excellent if you are a plane spotter, as its almost under the Dubai flight path. The pool area is quite small with limited sun loungers, but we enjoyed it for the couple of hours we were there.
Overall, for the reasonable price of the room, cleanliness, comfort and central location, I would highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a hotel for primarily leisure facilities, better look at the Jumeirah beach hotels.

I have stayed here before (October 2011 for 4 nights ) and enjoyed the hotel, the area outside is a bit run down with little to do in the immediate vicinity. However, I returned here for 1 night and requested/paid for an early check in as I had arrived from a nighttime flight. I was left to wait for my room in the lobby for close to 2 hours, the receptionist was polite and apologetic. As a non smoker, I obviously requested a non smoking room. When I finally got my room, it stank of stale smoke and I mentioned it to the bell boy who assured me he would let reception know and would send someone up to spray the room. Never happened. The rooms are fine, dark furnishings and bathroom meets expectations. Reception staff are very polite and friendly though and concierce staff very attentive.

When you are welcome at 2:00 AM on your arrival with a free upgrade to Executive Suite, you get immediately a smile on your face. But when all the staff is adorable with you, then it becomes really nice.
What else: great breakfast in the executive lounge upstairs, top gym club with the latest from TechnoGym, free access to the Oceana Beach Club that we enjoyed for a full day, excellent dining room service...
Well, let's be frank... We didn't find anything negative to say. A special thank to the Front desk and Concierge personel: you are really customer friendly.
A place that I recommend to anyone!

I love to review a hotel when there is absolutely nothing to criticise! The hotel just a few minutes walk from the Metro, close to the airport (AED 20 with taxi to the airport, add AED 25 FROM the airport). Staff is very friendly and helpful (Fabian, as mentioned before, is a wonder of knowledge. It's also nice to find a staff that speak your own language; Linnea from Sweden). The pool is a nice place to spend some hours. Well, here I find one thing that could be approved. Make the area 'No smoking', or just let some part be aloud for smoking.
