“Nice budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Rooms are spacious and clean.....front desk seems overwhelmed....miscommunication between a colleague and front desk made us to be taken to Shaharaj airport instead of DXB, missed our flight so be careful and just give them the airline name if you are a first time visitor to Dubai like we were. Breakfast was OK. Very close to the metro and malls

Room Tip: Good value for money

Very convenient location as it is very close to Sharaf DG Metro station and only a few stops away from Marina and JBR. As a regular traveller to Dubai this was my first time at Cassells Al Barsha. For me personally having always stayed on Shiekh Zayed Road I found the location a little quiet. The rooms were clean and spacious and the 30 mins free wifi in the reception area was a bonus as many Dubai hotels do not provide free wifi. The staff were welcoming and helpful.
One negative about the hotel is that the breakfast was not good. There was less variety of food and very busy. I asked for a clean glass for some juice to three different staff members before it finally arrived. Overall a decent hotel to stay in with a nice reception area.

We stayed at five continents cassell al barsha on the 8th of December 2013 for two nights after the cruise to oman and abu dhabi .on our arrival we were greeted with drinks which was quite nice .The rooms are spacious and comfortable .friendly reception staff , easy access to the metro station sharaf dg which is just across the hotel. just one negative point that i would like to mention the breakfast selection was very basic , not much of variety could do better quite disappointed. .This hotel is definitely value for money also the concerge staff shahed kader was excellent very reliable honest and loyal to his work duties. A great asset to the hotel .would like to thank him for making our stay comfortable

Staying this Hotel in the end of the year . Location just a few steps to Sharaf DG Metro Station , very convenient because a lot supermarket near the Hotel . Infront of Hotel are Al Rayan 24 Hour Supermarket
Front Desk staff some are helpful and some of them are lazy . I've already inform the Front Desk about total of towel / amenities, i need in the room but they always sent less than I need . Really embarrassing for a 4 Star Hotel if you cannot settle the communication between Housekeeping and Front Desk .

Breakfast was bread , egg and very standard . Nothing can make you feel staying longer to enjoy the breakfast . And the restaurant seems like to forced to accommodate more than the guest for breakfast and Gala New Year Dinner Eve . How can 150 seats capacity accommodate more than 300 guest when New Year Dinner Eve ? So most of the guest only eat for 20 minutes then go out ... seems like you attend the school party .

Room are standard and Wifi only available at Lobby for Free . Hope the Hotel can improve more better because they have a best location in Al Barsha .

Stay: December 2013

+++ Positives
1) I'd like to commend your front desk staff: Azhar Altaf. Due to a mix up, my family was not allocated adjoining rooms. When one staff member brought it to his attention, he immediately offered us a suite instead while the rest of the staff members were hemming and hawing.
2) Location: It's 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station (Sharaf DG), and there is a supermarket right opposite the front entrance of the hotel.

--- Negatives
1) One day of our trip, the internet went down. Might have been a server side problem of course, so it might not have been the fault of the hotel.
2) Another day of our trip the hot water system broke down. Run of bad luck? Either way, trying to shower in cold water in December was miserable.
3) 'Cooked items served at Breakfast - standard was really poor.

I spent 2 nights here 19/12/13 and 20/12/13 before joining a cruise round Dubai and Oman.

I arrived at just after 12 noon after a flight delay of 2 hours i needed my bed.
The receptionist informed me i couldn't have a room till 3pm Oh no!!! I was shattered.
She then said that the room i had requested was not ready but if i wanted there was a different room she would let me have straight away....What a brilliant service....

I was taken to the room on the 6th floor by a lovely porter who had helped me in with my bags when the taxi dropped me off. I have never seen anyone move so fast to get my bags a real credit to the hotel.
The room was massive i had two beds instead of the king size i requested but that didn't matter as the singles were as big as a double.
The bathroom was spacious and all the nice freebies you expect from this quality of hotel. The shower was brilliant. It even had bathroom scales (glad i never went back after my cruise)
The nice touch in the room was a kettle so i made a nice cup of tea straight away. There was also 2 bottle of complimentary water which were replenished the next day.
The location is easy to get around i walked to the Dubai Mall (best to go out of the back door and just go in a straight walk about 10-15 minutes) I went the wrong way at first but blamed it on been tired.
There is also another way into the Mall through the Kempinski hotel on the main road. This is the nearest i will get to pure 5* luxury the ground floor is very opulent but the Cassels is more down to earth and friendly that is the way i like it.
The Metro is out of the front door walk across the road and across a piece of open land the Metro is just on the other side of the road.
If it is a Friday it doesn't start till after 1pm as i found out on my day 2. So i just went back to the hotel and went to the roof to relax for a few hours.
It only cost me 11 Dirham (less than £2) for a return to the Mall of the Emirates. I went at 5pm as i wanted to see the dancing fountain show.
Fantastic service and they are so clean but gets very packed. I was lucky to get a seat on the way there but not on the way back.
I got back at nearly 11pm if i was at home there is no way i would walk across open land but here it was lovely to feel safe knowing that no one would bother you. For a single traveller a real bonus.
Every time i walked into the hotel there was always someone that said hello to you from security to the people on the desk a lovely touch.
All in all a really lovely friendly hotel i am so glad my travel agent booked me in here. i will pass my thanks back to her so she can send other travellers to you.

Thank you for a memorable first stay in Dubai.

We stayed at the Cassells Al Barsha Hotel over Christmas.

The hotel is located next to the metro and taxis are always available in the area so it was very easy to get around the city.

We had requested non-smoking rooms but were given two rooms on floor five that were smoking rooms. The hotel sad our request for non-smoking rooms had not been passed on to them by the travel agent. However, the reception staff changed our rooms to the non-smoking first floor right away when we asked.

We were on the first floor and the rooms, although clean and provide with clean linen, soap, etc., were in need of refurbishment.

All the staffs were very friendly and helpful and made our stay enjoyable - in particular Ala in reception. The staff mainly spoke good English and were a real asset in the hotel.

The breakfast buffet provide a good selection of dishes, however it was very crowded (with a mainly Russian / Eastern European clientele) and it was difficult at times to get a table to eat at.

The hotel has a rooftop swimming pool and a well-equipped gym, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room.

Wi-Fi is provide free in the lobby for 30 minutes per day, although you can upgrade to 24/7 Wi-Fi in your room for a small daily fee.

No alcohol is served in the hotel.

Room Tip: Only the first floor rooms are non-smoking in this hotel.
