Just got back yesterday from Dubai, stayed at Cassells for 8 nights in room 423.
Its only fair to leave an honest review so people can check before they decide. I also checked reviews before i booked.
The hotel is situated in a good place, next to Sharaf DG metro station, 30secs walk to station, i recommend the red metro all day NOL card, only 16 dhm each and you can use it non stop all day, great cheap way to travel and visit places.
The breakfast wasnt great but decent selection, could do with a few more fruit selection.
The hotel do a free shuttle ride to Jumeira Beach which you have to book morning before and they pick you up after about 3 hours, but they only take you to Jumeira beach 2, which is a CRAP location and you have to pay 5dhms each at the gate to enter. Your better off getting a taxi for 20dhm and going to Jumeira next to Wadi Water Park, which we did, better location and more to do as you have the Jumeira Souk and Medina which is 5mins walk from Wadi Water park. Some great buildings to see and take pics of.
Back to hotel, the room is decent size which a good selection of bathroom goodies like tooth brush, tooth paste, shower gel, moisteriser, shoe polish, ear buds, nail file, soap, needle and cotton, matches, shaving blades and even slippers to wear. Nice samsung lcd TV with good selection of chanels.
The cleaners were very polite and nice and always happy to help and cleaned rooms every day. only fault is they never hoovered the carpets.
You dont get no long life milk with your coffee and tea in room, only powder milk.
The mini Fridge didnt work but that didnt bother us as we never use them.
Some of the hotel staff didnt have any customer skills, some would just walk around the lobby with headphones on.
The rooms do have AC, the windows open a little but view wasnt any good, the windows were filthy that you couldnt see out of them.
The roof top swimming pool and swirlpool were ok but small.
The gym looked nice and clean but never used it as i dont go on holidays to use gym!!
In the lobby there is 2 souvenir shops, the guy in 1 i think is called Yasser is arrogant and walks round like he owns the hotel, plus he wears the same t-shirt for 4 days!!! does he not sweat?

The hotel is rated 4 stars but i would say 2/3 stars.
Just across the roads you have MFC (mumtaz fried chicken) decent price and good food, a 24hr shop aswell, and other restaurants you can try.
If you feel like a walk like we did some nights then 20mins walk takes you to Mall of Emirates, you can enter through Hotel Keplinsky (beautiful hotel) but you cant exit the same way. Also a decent cheap eating place in the mall on the bottom floor next to CARREFOUR supermarket called coffee stop. Chicken combo meal which consists of 2 pieces of fried chicken, a bun and fries and drink for 10dhm and other great bargains and good food to try.

Some great places we visited are:
Dubai Marina ( day and night)
Al Ras, Palm Deira, B Square for great cheap shopping, expect to haggle, here you get to see the gold souk, spice souks, textile souks, fish market and other souks.
Al Fahidi to visit Bastakiya, a great place to see old dubai, beautiful old buildings and free museums, 20mins walk straight out of Al Fashidi metro station.

I can go on and on and on, but great place to visit, safe place even for women who are traveling on there own and people are helpfull if you get lost or cant find a certain place.

Room Tip: My room had a bad view (room 423)

It was a great sorprise.
Very good hotel a very fair price in Dubai.
For a touririst has a good location close to the metro.
The food, the room and the service were good as well.
The internet isnt for free
Beds, and baths are very confortables.
Very similar hotels at the same price dont have all the things that this one offers. I can say that because my friends were close to me in other hotels and the experience for them eere awful

It is average hotel, very close to metro station, Mall of Emirates, view of Bursh Al Arab. Breakfast variety and quality was really good. In room coffee and tea variety is low, only 2 water bottles per stay (even if we were for 10 nights there), but rich assortment of bathroom tools (including toothbrush, shavers, etc.). There were ongoing issues with room cleaning. Dust on the table is a normal there, carpets low cleaning quality, you can find the same filament for at least few days (we tested this :-) If you do not put sign to clean the room, it can be not cleaned, watch out this. Sometimes we had only one towel left for 3 people (after the call they bring more). Kids play area is difficult to comment (dirty, no normal toys to play). My daughter didn't wanted to stay there even for few minutes. Shuttle bus go only to one beach for few hours only. Net net price was good but not sure if it is the best value for money. Next time I might spend more to get a bit more.

Room Tip: Ask for non smoking room if you do not smoke. We were booked in smoking one with child (not sure if...

Although there were small issues to be upgraded within the hotel and its staff, overall was great. Location, breakfast, room size, staff ( polite and not easy to tell/understand :) ) were excellent. WIFI in Dubai seems to be a hard thing to get (for free) as this city is a touristic city (based on $). Considering this, 30 minutes free WIFI in the lobby somehow made our stuff easier to check our emails or call relative over the skype. Not being experienced in hotels, I would suggest this hotel to my friends or relatives as it is silent and family one.

With the super efficient Metro 1 minute away and in the up and coming Al Barsha area, this hotel is located perfectly. Nice size rooms and food outlets. New bar coming soon I am informed as it's semi-dry at present. Emirates Mall in walking distance but hotel offers shuttle. Jumeriah Beach a short and cheap taxi ride away. You can get the metro from the airport to the hotel. If you want central and great value, try it.
Big bonus, plenty of room at the massive pool area on the roof.

Room Tip: South facing seemed best option.
