Just checked out of the Pullman a few hours ago and couldn't wait to write this review. My hopes were quite high from recent reviews on Tripadvisor that I looked up - it lived up to it and more!
The cabbie from the airport knew the place quite easily (anyone would, it's located in the premises of the mammoth Mall of the Emirates) and was a AED 85 ride from the airport (Terminal 1).
Check in was super with Rebika being my star along with Tripadvisor star Philip who went out of their way to ensure I had a smooth check-in. Though check-in was at 1400 hrs and I reached around 1155 hrs, no fuss was made and I was only requested to accept a room with twin beds instead of a king bed - no problem with me! The moment I stepped out of the hotel, Philip saw me and asked if since I wasn't going to be in, if he should send someone up to join the beds (I was staying alone). This particular gesture of him remembering and ensuring it gets done really really warmed my heart. These front office chaps really go the extra mile.
I had a Deluxe Room (Superior < Deluxe < Junior Suite < Senior Suite < Executive Suite.. ) and within minutes of my walking into the room, i had at some level already concluded that this was amongst the best hotel rooms I had ever stayed in. Factors - Nice large airy room, huge clear windows, bright, warm lighting, stunning view of the Burj Al Arab & Atlantis from the room, very warm pastel upholstery, huge swivel-mount LCD TV, large see-through, very well specc'ed bathroom and excellent attention to detail - my favourite part was the tea closet in the room which housed the tea equipment. Reeked elegance & class. The wardrobe was large and room y and a dedicated iron box and table was a nice touch - common around many parts of the world in premium hotels but not this part.
Facilities - I used the gym and pool faciltiies and was very impressed - especially the gym. The treadmills and EFX machines had a touch screen display which let you control your work out but also gave you access to Facebook, Twitter & youtube besides TV, of course! It even had a dock for your iPhone which then allowed you to control your music from the display itself. 4 treadmills, 3 EFX, 1 cycle and a whole bunch of multi gym machines besides a full set of weights. All equipment felt new and very well kept. Despite the large number of rooms, the fitness centre was always available for immediate use. Of course, the uninterrupted view of the Burj Al Arab & Atlantis from every part of the fitness centre definitely added to the incentive of working out! Same story at the swimming pool - breathtaking views, parallel pools (static & jacuzzi) and very friendly and efficient staff make the roof top pool a pleasure to use.
Business Centre - I spent 8:30 AM to 04:45 AM (next morning) in a gruelling workshop and went back in again by 8:00AM the same day to finish by 05:00PM. Needless to say, it took it's toll. But the comfortable seating & air conditioning, very plush chill out rooms with Wi-Fi and well manned & kept toilets made it easier to manage the rigours of the workshop. Especial mention to the food and snacks continuously served in the workshop hall in the most efficient manner. Even at 4:00AM, we always had access to a variety of coffees & teas.
Restaurants - They have a few. Soda Box, Sanabel, Vantage Terrace to name a few. I ate only at Sanabel and enjoyed the food quality - veg & non veg. Lunch was a buffet and was fairly varied. Not too many options but not the usual buffet items - intriguing, delicious options. Only grouse, a couple of items repeated on both the days for lunch. Breads of very very very high quality and delicious.
The limited stay and the extended workshop afforded me only this much access to the hotel's facilities. As one of the other reviews on TripAdvisor mentioned, it does get a little annoying each time to switch elevators on the 5th level to get to the rooms but it wasn't much of a walk.
The hotel is brilliantly connected to the Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Metro. Hop into the elevator and head to level 1 to walk directly in to the mall's first level. Walk about 500 metres in the mall to reach the Mall of the Emirates Metro station.
Great stay, felt very much like home even within the short window of stay. I personally realized this trip that how comfortable you were in a hotel room was determined by how much of your suitcase unpacked itself into the wardrobe. And at the Pullman Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, my wardrobe was always stacked.
Can't wait to be back. Kudos everyone.
