Location is great, near Mall of the Emirates, actually this was the main reason we chose the hotel.
The hotel is quite noisy, a lot of construction is going on in the vicinity. Anyway, you should ask for a room at higher floors because there is a lot of noise from the bar/club from the ground floor. We changed the room in maximum half of hour after checking in, because of this. Room cleaning was kind of poor. An average hotel in my opinion but if you don't spend so much time in the hotel I guess you will find it comfortable enough.

Dear animesh s,

Thank you for your kind review following your recent stay at Citymax Hotel Al Barsha.
As I could read from your comments, you enjoyed the live entertainment at Maxx Music Bar & Grill. In fact our resident band Roxx Empire is very popular among hotel guests and regular guests from Dubai.

Please visit us again when returning to Dubai and don't miss the Friday Live Music Jam Night.

I stayed at Al Barsha October 2012. There was a little confusion initially as my friends, who I thought had booked the same hotel, were in a different location of the Citymax group. To change hotels was a nightmare, not because of the people from Citymax who were very accommodating, but by hotels.com through whom I had booked the room. Long story short, that was the last time ever I used that website to book my hotel rooms. Horrible and slow service, never ever to be used again.

The hotel has a good location, close to a few large malls, taxis wait in front of the lobby, and it's a short taxi ride to all the big sights in Dubai. Free internet access is available in the lounge but unfortunately there is no free internet access in the rooms. The rooms are small, and mine was with a window looking at a wall. But hey, I was in Dubai to look out of the window, and the value and the location cannot be beaten. The hotel is clean, staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a nice, although small, roof top pool. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a good value hotel, centrally located for shopping and sight seeing, for a few days.

We stayed at the CityMax AlBarsha for a week over New Year. The hotel is good value. The rooms are a little on the small side but are clean and fresh. Bathrooms are small, shower only no tub, but the hot water and pressure were both great and always available. The room had a kettle and fridge which was very handy. If you like a cup a tea take some teabags as you only get 2 a day. The pool on the roof is good with great views but it's a small space for the number of rooms and gets very very busy. The lobby is also small so there isn't much public space. Wifi in the lobby was good and free. We arrived at 4am and had no issues checking in. Reception service is best described as mixed. We experienced both incredibly helpful through to pure incompetence during our stay. Guest workers make up all of the staff and the standard of English varies from excellent to very very bad. They must have had some strange guests as even though they had our credit card details and pre-authorised an amount to allow us to bill things to our room this proved impossible to do, with staff insisting we paid immediately for breakfast, room service etc. Meal times feel a little canteen like with buffets served in a lifeless dining room. Breakfast and lunches were ok, both around the 50AED mark, nothing to get excited about. The sports bar was a pleasant surprise, they stream football which put me off but we wandered in one night and had a good time, bar food and drinks are very reasonably priced, beer was ~£2 pint. Location of the hotel is great. We took the metro from the Mall of the Emirates everywhere. A day pass costs 16AED ~£2.50 and you can get to most of the sights within a 10 min ride. There is a huge Carrefour in the Mall and they do hot food and sandwiches great for packing lunches to take to the beach or for room snacks. Taxi's are also cheap and good for taking you to specific restaurants, these are very easily flagged on the road outside the hotel The hotel has cars, a little more expensive than the standard Dubai taxis but always waiting on the forecourt ready to go. The hotel cars are very good quality and the drivers very helpful. All in all a good value mid range hotel well located for exploring Dubai.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor at the front on the main road and slept perfectly. The soundproofing seeme...

I chose this hotel based on 1)location (to a metro), 2) they offered a beach shuttle - and 3) the fact that all the reviews were positive.
Indeed this hotel delivered what it claimed to, the reviews were all spot on - and it was overall value for money.

The Mall of the Emirates (with supermarket and foodcourt) is a couple of minutes walk away - and the metro easily accessible through the mall. Both of those helped to keep this trip within a budget because Dubai is not really a budget destination.

The hotel was very comfortable, exceptionally clean and all the staff always friendly and helpful. I have to add that this extends to their off-site central reservations team as well. We had several challenges booking and arranging visas but they were so professional and helpful.

The rooms arent big - but they are fine. A tip if you have a lot of clothes that need hanging - bring hangers but other than that you will be comfortable.

The location was great. The pool area small but we were early starters so always had a lounger and were very happy to stay there most days. The beach shuttle does have to be booked a day in advance as space is limited but there are 4 trips out each day - to the open beach (no facilities). We also took a taxi to the Jumeira Beach Park one day - where there are some facilities and loungers / umbrellas to rent. But at a cost (41 dirhams there / 27 dirhams back and 40 dirhams for the hire).

We booked the dune safari / dinner through the hotel desk and were very happy with our choice - tho have to admit to being a little sceptical when I saw the very artifical Bedouin camp and buffet tables. However the experience did not disappoint and I would recommend it.

Breakfast was worth the 40 Dirhams. I only had one disappointment - there was no variety and virtually no choice when it came to fruit. But the eggs were varied, rice and noodles alternated. And everyone was catered for.

I would happily recommend the hotel - and happily return there on a future trip.

Room Tip: At the moment (and it will be for a long time) there is construction on the one side of the hotel...

CityMax al Barsha has a good location: your can walk to Emirates Mall in 5 min. and do your shopping (exelent Carrefour supermarket) or walk straigth through and hit the metro station. The Marina Walk or the beach close to Burj al Arab (public beach) are 10 min./ app. 22 dirhams away.
Breakfast is great, rooms a bit small and lacking room for your clothes - only 4 hangers.
