“Excellent stay at this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Very neat & clean place to stay, since there kids we had booked 1 bedroom apartment, rooms were very spacious & well made, the location of the property was great for us as there was an Indian supermarket next to it & was open till 1.30am every night.
10 mins walk from the Apartment was Kamath Restaurant & 10 mins walk to other side from Apartment was Sukh Sagar restaurant in Karama
On our next visit to Dubai we'll definately stay here.

This place is not far away from the Dubai airport. We arrived there in the early hours of the morning and was welcomed by Mr Ashok who was incharge. He even upgraded our room for free and I must say it was just amazing. What a way to start a holiday! The rooms were spacious, very clean, kitchen well stacked with plates, microwave, cooker, washing machine, kettle. It was very convenient. A convenience store just two steps ahead of the hotel is very handy. A very good roof top pool with a beautiful landscape view in the night is a bonus to this hotel. I will definetly go back to this place again. An excellent place for the price you pay.

They have shuttle service to the hot tourist attractions every day free of charge. The room service is very good and the rooms cleaned everyday. The staff I must say were very polite and always willing to help. Mr Ashok and Mr John are the managers and are very helpful. People in the front desk ( Nilantha, Suresh and Aloma) were equally helpful.

Although this place is very good, pl be aware you can access the internet only in the lobby on the ground floor. You will find always somebody sitting there with their laptops to access the net. The internet can be obtained in the room which is very expensive.
Secondly they do organise Desert Safari with a tie up with Universal Tours and travels. Please avoid this at any cost and I suggest you book this with someone else seperately. They picked us up at the right time but made us wait for another 4x4 vehicle to go into the desert and by the time we got to the destination it was delayed and we missed the initial food. The organisers were very abrupt, rude and in no way wanting to help and just blamed us for being dropped late. We had a child in the group who was the most affected. The entertainment and the food was just a joke and not sure if there was a belly dance which in actual fact was supposed to be the main highlight!

Overall for the price betwen 250 - 325 AED per day this is a very good bargain.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the Kuwait street and the 5th or 6th floor.

The hotel is located at the Kuwait Street 700 m from the Al Karama metro station. Very convenient to take the metro to explore the Dubai city. On the first day, we also took The Big Bus which is a hop on hop off bus to tour the city for the whole day. the bus stop is 10 minute walk from the hotel to Burjumen - turn left when coming from hotel and walk straight ahead passing Centrepoint & 3 traffic lights until you see The Big bus signboard. On second days onwards, we settled for the metro ride to continue exploring the beautiful city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony at higher floor and facing the front of hotel.

After staying in expensive hotels in Dubai before, we knew there must be a cheaper way of visiting this amazing city....... There is, and this is the way to do it!

We stayed in a deluxe apartment with 2 bedrooms, (1 double & 1 twin with TV in both, very comfy beds with clean linen every day) 2 bathrooms (clean towels every day), a kitchen (oven, hob, micowave, fridge/freezer, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils) a living area with TV and dining table enough to seat 6 people and an ironing room! We also had the added bonus of a balcony...which on previous visits to Dubai, is not always the case.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Great rooftop pool, clean with Amazing views over the city both during the day and night (pool closes at 10pm). Although there is not alot of sunbeds - there is also tables, chairs and umberella's you can use until a sunbed comes available. Cleaners attended to room every day.

Good location - Close to Burjuman Mall, Al Karama Metro station and there is also a Spinney's supermarket a short walk away.

On a slight negative note, some of the decor in the room could have done with a a lick of paint and the fabrics in the living area (curtains/cushions) would have looked 100% better with a quick wash. We also had to ask for additional crockery, as not enough to go round when we arrived, but it was quickly brought up after contacting reception. But this is not enough to put you off a cheaper way of staying in an expensive city.

If you like to eat, drink and do what you want, when you want - This is an ideal base to explore Dubai..........

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Kuwait Road - Although we did not have one on the front looking over this...

After searching for Hotels for our trip to Dubai, we finally settled on the Winchester Deluxe Hotel Apartments. Please note - Don't confuse this one with their sister hotel - the Winchester Grand Hotel.

Anyway, we found a decent deal for this hotel via the Agoda website. The hotel is located in an excellent area - in Bur Dubai and is approximately about 5-10 mins walk from the Al Kamara Metro Station (Red Line).

I contacted the hotel directly to ask if they provided any airport pick-up & drop off. This service is free if you book directly with the hotel via their website. However as we booked through Agoda, they said it was chargeable - 60Dhs for pick-up and 40Dhs for drop-off - which is very reasonable!

We checked in; the hotel had all our details as we had paid in full. They took us up to our room and delivered our luggage. The bed was a double one - but they changed it to twin instantly without any hassle. The room was huge, had a kitchen area with electric hob & oven, microwave, fridge, kettle. crockery and cutlery. The bathroom was nice and spacious and had a bathtub with a shower hose.

The beds were comfortable to sleep in and the rooms were cleaned everyday. We had no issues using the safe in one of the cupboards. Just set a pin and keep your valuables in there.

TV was on the smallish size, but that didn't matter. There is wired internet in the room - but that is chargeable. If you want to use the internet, the hotel provide free WiFi connection in the lobby. All the electric plug sockets fitted the UK plugs - so no converters were needed.

We only booked the room - so did not try any of the hotel restaurants. Food is fairly cheap in Dubai and there is a supermarket 2 mins away. Exit the hotel turn right - you can't miss it. There is a bigger supermarket (Spinney's) about 5 or so mins away if you prefer that but their prices are slightly more expensive.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel. The service is good, and the staff were helpful and always available. Enjoy your stay here!

My husband and I picked this hotel after carefully reading reviews on all hotels in the area. Upon a very short trip from the airport, this hotel was a welcome site! It is clean and well kept. There is No WiFi in the rooms ...30d is not a big deal if you want it in your room...I didn't come to Dubai to be on the internet but I would like to keep in touch with my family back home so 30d is not going to break my bank! They do have free Wifi in the lobby. We are currently still in the hotel and have not had any issues, the staff are quick to respond for anything needed. We sleep pretty late into the afternoon since we can shop 24hrs and we can still have our room cleaned upon asking. We are utilizing the Metro since it is a quick walk and can take you everywhere(buy the gold card). The hotel has a very handy FREE Shuttle Service that we have taken advantage of. We are buying our food and snacks at Spinneys Grocery store, it is the best place around here and has everything you need! Local restaurants do deliver to the hotel, which is nice when you just don't wanna go out. There is a nice roof top pool, be sure and try!
