“Great place to experience Dubai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2011 via mobile

When you arrive into the hotel lobby, it is beatifully decorated with star lanterns and mint tea and dates for refreshment.

The staff are lovely and always willing to help no matter what. We checked in and were upgraded to a junior suite that was amazing with two balconies facing the beach, large sitting area and comfortable bed. The bathroom had a tub and rainfall shower complete with Hermes toiletries.

The room also came with a pillow menu and luxury tea and coffee facilities.

For the beach, they give you chairs, towels and cold water in a nice beach bag. It really makes it easy for you as a guest and is a nice touch.

In the afternoon, they come to the rooms and offer fresh tea and coffee with biscuits. This was unexpected but also a lovely plus when relaxing from a day at the pool.

The pool looked over the ocean and had comfortable chairs and a swim up bar. The cocktails and food menu were both freshly prepared and not overly expensive as you would expect at a hotel.

I would highly recommend this property and had a great experience here.

My wife and I stayed for 7 nights to celebrate her birthday and I can confirm what others have said this is a great hotel. We arrived early morning but they made a room available for us at 9.00am for which we were very grateful. The staff are very friendly and attentive and realy do make you feel that nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are very nice with sliding panels that open up from the bathroom so you can literaly lay in the bath and watch the flat screen TV in the bedroom or in our case look straight out to sea from the same position. on the first day they delivered a complementry birthday cake for my wife which was very nice not only for the gesture but also good cake. She also received a birthday card personnely written by the manager assuring us he and his staff would do everything they could to make the stay special which they did. I should say we found the quality of housekeeing excellent with daily clean sheets and nightly turn down service.

I can not comment on the restuarant other than Breakfast which was very good, with Pork sausage and Bacon avialable which is not I am assured always the case in Dubai. We did use the Pool Bar and food service regularly during our stay which was consistant and good value. There are many comments on this site with regards to lack of sunbeds which is understandable at certain times of the day but they are about to double the number avialable. The infinity pool is great with nice views and the ambiance around the pool is nice. They also are happty to supply free of charge foldable Beach Mats with beach towels and bottled water which we took advantage of one day because its a nice beach. The location is good as its on the Marina walk with lots of reasonably priced restaurants within a short walking distance. If you want to venture further then Taxis are cheap in Dubai with even a long trip of 30 minutes around the £7 mark with short trips as little as a couple of pounds.

To sum up Its a great hotel in a good location with very reasonable deals on offer for this standard of Hotel and we realy enjoyed our stay, so much so that we have already deceided we will go back to Dubai and when we do we will go back to the Sofitel.Trust me give it a go you will not be disapointed.

We had a 3 night stay at the sofitel and generally we were delighted. We arrived at 6am after a 19 hour flight from New Zealand and where delighted and grateful that they let is into our room early.

The room was well appointed, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds and lovely view of the beach from our balcony. The beach is a short walk away and there are numerous restaurants in the area. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The hotel is quite a long way from many of the attractions of Dubai and travelling backwards and forwards in taxis all the time mounts up quite an expense, we will hire a car next time we're here.

We would repeat what others have said, much of the space around the pool is wasted with tables and chairs, when there is a desperate lack of sun beds, which is what people really want. I counted only 16 sun beds which is sadly lacking for a 32 floor hotel.

The only other negatives, and they are petty ones: we had to keep leaving a note for the maid for extra milk as they only normally leave 2 silly little cartoons. The bath robes are the cheap waffle type, towelling would have been nice. And the food prices, especially the minibar are extortionate. £4 for a tube of smarties and £30 for an airplane size bottle of wine, I don't think so!!!!

Overall though would stay at the Sofitel again and recommend.

I stayed here for 3 nights in February with my boyfriend on a stopover on the way back from New Zealand to the UK. We arrived early morning off a long haul flight and hoped to check straight into our room (I had requested this advance) however on arrival the hotel was very full and no room in the category we had booked with a king size bed was available. The receptionist offered us a twin bedded room or the option of spending the morning by the pool with him calling us when our room became available. We choose to do this and he helped us to the health club and ensure we could take our swimming things out of our cases before storing them for us. The pool area was lovely, a little small and rather shady due to the hotel being a sky scraper, however right by the beach and a lovely design. After a couple of hours we decided to get dressed and head out for a late breakfast. We stepped out onto the Jumeirah Beach Walk (a nice promende with shops and restaurants parallel to the beach which runs past all the hotels in this area) where we had a coffee at Paul's. This was a really popular cafe which was full every morning, and a much cheaper option than the hotel for breakfast I am sure. We never got a call to say our room was ready but by the time we wandered back into the hotel it was available and we checked in and our bags were automatically brought up to the room. The room itself (Superior Sea View - actually the most basic!) was gorgeous, with a lovely private balcony, beautiful fresh white bedding and a large bathroom with separate toilet and shower and a large bath behind shutter doors that could be opened to effectively bring the bath into the bedroom! It was one of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Cleanliness was excellent and there was a well stocked minibar, good tea and coffee facilities, a safe and l'occitane bathroom goodies. Robes and slippers were also provided. The rate was not cheap, but good value for Dubai, at £500 for 3 nights (a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal). The location on the beach walk was good for restaurants and getting out and about, with some free shuttles to the malls. The hotel was a long way from the airport although we found taxis very cheap for travelling around so no issues there. We also tried the new metro which was very modern and efficient. Overall a good location, excellent room, fair price and nice facilities (although we didn't use them much).

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach and for your fabulous review. We allow early check-in only upon room availability and we are ruunign full occupancy at the moment so I understand your issue. However, I do apologise for you not being informed about your room status when it was ready. Will share it with the concerned department.
I am glad you liked your room and its amenities. The rooms are designed to reflect a blend of French and Arabic culture by using lots of wood in the decor. All the rooms have sea views for a lovely morning view. Beach kits are definitely a hit amongst our guests.

I will share your comments with the team for the motivation that any establishment continuously needs.

I hope you had a good flight to the UK and look forward to welcome you again.

Sincerely,

Sami Nasser

We stayed at the Junior Suite with our four year old daughter. The room is great and has a sliding door between the living area and the bedroom, which makes it more like a suite than a junior suite. Two flat screens, Bose Sound System as well as DVD players and I-Pod Docking station are provided. Two balconies offer great views of the beach and the Palm (we stayed on the 29th floor). Butler service and Lounge access are included. The staff was extremely professional and competent. The service level, can do attitude as well as the child friendliness are very high. We especially appreciated that our daugther was allowed at the lounge where a complimentary breakfast, light lunch, afternoon tea as well as drinks and food in the evening were served. The food and drinks are of excellent quality and the staff is very attentive and helpful.

The pool area is rather small but very nice and trendy with lounge music in the background. However, it can get very crowded even, if the hotel is not fully booked. If you are not at the pool by 9 am (at least during our stay), you have nearly no chance to get a sunbed or chair. The staff is doing a great job of preventing guests from reserving sunbeds, but space is limited and there is nothing one can do. However, this is the only little downside of the hotel that I can think of. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel offers beach packages with mats and towels. The mats are really great and do a good job. The beach is fantastic with turquoise waters right in front of the hotel.

We can also recommend the Seafood night that takes place Thursdays. Excellent seafood (oysters, lobster, moussels, tuna, etc. etc.) in a nice setting (also great value for your money).

Taken together we really enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel and can fully recommend it.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for such a beautiful review and for staying at Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach on your recent visit to Dubai. It is really nice to know that you liked the amenities in your room and the staff attitude. That's how a good hotel is identified. I am also glad that you tried our sea-food night, which is a big hit amongst locals too. As for sunbeds, we are increasing the capacity soon and re-arranging the furniture to accommodate more guests. I'm sure you won't have this complaint next time you come. Also recommended is the cheese and wine night on wednesdays. That is our speciality, being a French hotel, and is true value for money.

I will share your comments with the team and want to thank you again for your kind words.

Look forward to welcome you back.

Sincerely,

Sami Nasser
