This is the first time in several years I have left ZERO as the tip; I am normally a 10-15% tipper. The food was OK rather than poor - pretty good, although nothing special (given the prices) - but the service was inept and would be unacceptable at a small or lower-grade restaurant; at one of the signature restaurants at one of Dubai's top hotels (Atlantis) it was nothing short of criminal - the worst I've ever had in an expensive Dubai restaurant. A woman arguing with the maitre d' for 5 minutes as we queued for our reservation was a poor start - no-one else came to bypass the arguer and deal with the rest of the queue. We were then herded into a lift with about 20 other people to go down 1 floor when there was a curving staircase right next to us. We were told we would be met at the bottom and were not and had to mill around aimlessly waiting for distracted waiters to seat us - they had to be told 3 times we wanted outside despite placing a reservation. Service was very slow to take our order - on a mostly-empty weeknight - then delivered starters like hummous, without bread, which was belatedly delivered after we had finished. They put the bread onto plates with discards on rather than a clean plate. They topped up sparkling water with still without checking who drank what. The mains were reasonable to good, although not justified by any means by the price, and no match for the best Dubai restaurants. We might have had coffee or desert but waited so long to be asked we just collected the bill instead. On the way out we conspicuously heard a head waiter asking our waiter within earshot whether we had paid. Thankfully at least we were not inside where the music, however authentic, was obviously too loud to talk over easily. Really really disappointing for a supposed top-class Dubai restaurant and what a poor impression to give a visiting friend who came with us. Not happy.
