“We liked it... a lot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

We had a room with a view back down the Palm. We had pre-paid for early checkin but there was a bit of a delay due to others who had also arrived early asking to check in early but their rooms were not yet ready. When we got to our room it was sensational - a Regal Suite. The added bonus of the suites is access to the Club for breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapes however we ate breakfast in the main restaurant downstairs and it was the biggest selection I have ever seen... Arabic, Indian, Chinese, Western, Italian and other such selections being available - something for everyone! Access to Lost Chambers and Aquaventures was also included... the Dolphin Experience was considerably extra - but memorable. Would recommend this resort to anyone for a stopover in Dubai but not for a longer holiday.

Room Tip: Regal Suites can be booked to interconnect with an additional non-suite room if more than 4 in your...

amazing four night stay in this resort . expensive as we went in the peak christmas period .

go for the imperial club rooms , super value !! lounge access means all day snacks , happy hours with what is actually a mini dinner buffet and not canapés !! wi fi access is free for these rooms plus unlimited access to aqua venture .

ask for room in west tower as it is quite peaceful than the east tower .

the reception and all other attractions like lost world aquarium , avenues and aqua venture can be quite crowded as even non resident guests are allowed in .

hotel service is outstanding , every team member knows their jobs and are very efficient .

food is quite expensive here compared to other restaurants but they are worth it !!! we ate at nobu ,ossiano , levantine ,saffron , shore , edge , rota londecilli , don't even bother comparing as you will not get the same ambience , service and quality of food outside .

the resort is far away from everything and one needs to go with the mindset of not stepping out of the hotel .

this is one of the best resorts i have stayed in across all my travels .

Room Tip: try the west tower for some peaceful stay as the east tower can be quite busy . imperial club rooms...

I noticed that Atlantis made a guarantee to offer the best web price if you book direct, presumably so you don't feel the need to shop around and book via an agent. Here's what they say..

"When you book directly with Atlantis, we guarantee you will be quoted the best publicly available market rate for your room. If you find a lower rate for the same room type, staying dates and cancellation conditions within 24 hours of making your booking, Atlantis will give you an additional 15% off your reservation (subject to the terms and conditions).

How to make a claim

Find a lower published rate for the same room type and staying dates as your reservation
Within 24 hours of making your booking, complete and submit the claim form
Atlantis, The Palm will notify you whether your claim has been successful within 24 hours"

So, first off, it does not make sense. They cannot claim to offer the lowest publicised rate and then also offer to match it if they don't. Still, like an idiot I booked last week. A friend commented that I had paid a lot for a week in peak season and when I checked on a comparison site I found the same room, for the same week with the same terms and conditions on offer for £960 less that I was quoted from the hotel itself.

Because I was within the 24 hours mentioned on their site I filled in the claim form and provided the details of where I had seen the price. To date I have never received a reply to this claim. When I emailed the hotel about the same issue I received this response:

"Kindly note that the rate you had booked is the best available rate was shown in the system when you made the reservations for the palm beach room.

Please note that the Rate are always subject to availability.

Please feel free to get in touch with us in case you would require any further assistance."

Make any sense to you ? Me neither, so I lost patience and cancelled the booking. As it happens they do not charge the credit card when you book (although no way you could know that) so in fact I just received a cancellation confirmation.

I have instead booked a different hotel for our trip. Very disappointing service but I suspect I have had a lucky escape. Recommend everyone uses a booking site or travel agent and definitely shop around on price.

I visited Atalantis for my birthday with my husband and our two friends. The service was amazing from the second we arrived. The check in was easy and quick and when we got to our rooms there was a birthday cake waiting for me, I also received a complimentary massage for the occassion. We arrived late and so retired for the evening.
The next day we had breakfast in Saffron which is a huge international buffett and although the number of guests every morning was overwhelming we never once had to wait for a table. The food was very good and was always fuly stocked. We had breakfast there everyday for the rest of the trip.
We upgraded to a Club Room which was a great choice, breakfast was complimentary in a choice of restaurants, we had access to free soft drinks all day in the lounge, afternoon tea and then canapies and 2 hours of free alcohol in the lounge between 6-8pm every night. The staff in the lounge were fantastic and took the time to get to know you and what drinks you liked, Louis deserves a special mention.
With the Club access you also get free access to the water park and aquarium, both of which we visited and enjoyed. The shopping in the hotel is good and we enjoyed a few strolls through the boutiques.
We ate at Seafire (twice), Nobu and Ossiano all of which were incredible, pricey but well worth it. There is a bar right in the centre of the hotel which has two for one on drinks between 11-12pm daily which was a nice way to finish the evening off.
The pool and outdoor areas are immaculate (as is the whole resort) we swam in both the main pools daily, chasing the sun. The sea is also beautifully warm and gentle and it is such a unique experience to sit in the sea and face a city.
The only issue we had was that one day we returned to our room and could smell cigarette smoke, we called the front desk to ask if there was anything they could do. Within 10 mins security had been round and checked if they could find the culprit, then maintanence came and changed the filter in the air vent and then housekeeping brought an aromotherapy room freshner (which was so good I intend to purchase one for home!) they really couldn't have done more for us, the service is on another level.
It was a fantastic trip and I can't wait to go back again!

Room Tip: Pay the extra and upgrade to a Club Room.

We stayed here for Christmas eve/Christmas day and we were quite impressed with the building & facilities. However a couple of letdowns, we only got our baggage two and a bit hours after we got into the room, and of course our camera was in one of those bags. And the check-in experience was bit of a drag, as it was quite chaotic with the staff having to scan all of the guests' passports/IDs. And lastly the room which was on level 2, and apparently right above the nightclub and so my child could not sleep at all. Other than that I was really happy with our experiences there. For people interested to know, yes, you can still go to Aquaventure after you've checked out of the hotel. That was a nice touch I thought.

Visited rather than stayed, just to be whilst waiting for a helicopter flight. Couldn't get a drink or lunch without being a resident or the areas were closing after 4pm ! It was like being in hell, you couldn't go almost anywhere with out security clearance or finding yourself in a never ending que, leave took an hour and a half, gregarious and a mix between a casino and a nightmare. If you've got children can see how this place works but it's no underwater hotel. Getting out of their was an ordeal in itself. So glad I wasn't a guest and love staying in great hotels, but this Atlantis city is lost for a the wrong reasons.

We were here on our honeymoon actually on Dec 2012 (sorry, the system doesn't allow this date). Very luxurious, beautiful surroundings, great waterpark. This all means: very expensive. The hotel is huge which unfortunately means no personal attention. Whenever you would like to ask something, book a ticket to an attraction, make a reservation to a restaurant, you need to stand in line for quite some time. But once you get service, it's always good: fluent english, friendly smily staff.

We did not get an upgrade even though we were on our honeymoon, our room was quite basic. It was quite chilly outside at the time so it was very disappointing to find that the water coming from the shower or to the tub was not hot. We needed to boil water with the electric kettle so that we could get a nice, warm bath. Not good.

The restaurants are unlike any other hotels' that we've been to. We especially enjoyed Nobu. But if you like to drink some wine with your meal, be prepared to PAY for it. Cant' get a bottle of wine under EUR70, so very pricy indeed.

The distance between the hotel and the central of Dubai is noticeable. You can get a taxi right outside the hotel but as the culture is islamic, wives/girlfriends should keep their mouths shut. The taxi drivers will not respond to women, they will only talk to men. There is also a train station from the waterpark to centrum, so that might be cheaper but we didn't get a chance to try it.

If you're thinking of going to Dubai, you should definitely visit Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world today. Also, if staying at the Atlantis you should try swimming with the dolphins (this costs quite alot) or petting them (a bit cheaper). We also enjoyed feeding the sting-rays, this is something I would recommend to everyone, the experience is quite unique. You go in the pool with the instructor and the rays and the instructor will hand you some shrimp to hold in your fist. Once you put your fist underwater, a ray will come and suck the shrimp from your hand. Very fun and memorable. A professional photographer is taking pictures all the time and you can purchase the pictures of your choice afterwards.
