“Outstanding Westin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2011

As most travellers point out, this hotel is outstanding. So in short, I second all reviews that point out the excellence of this resort. From airport pick-up tp check out 8 days later everything was outstanding. Since we arrived early in the morning I respected their 3 pm check in policy and booked a room one day in advance. I reccomend other travellers to do the same instead of expecting them to sort out a room if you arrive early - this is worth while as you get the room right away, you can have breakfast when you arrive and embark on your stay without having to wait one second. Check-in was efficient and all luggage was brought to our room immediately. We opted for an executive sea view room - these rooms are quiet, and on the 8th floor, with a spectacualr view over The Palm and the Gulf. Pristine surrounding gardens and pools - and very clean. Service was brilliant and attentive. We did the Bubbalicious brunch - gluttony at its finest. Went to the spa three times. I suggest you request a Thai massage with Tony. It is not possible to get a more pleasant beating by a more professional and competent therapist than Tony, so thanks for making me feel better than I have in years, Tony. You are a major asset to the spa and the hotel. I would also like to thank Rico, the guest experience manager, who took very good care of us from the minute we arrived. All in all, a brilliant stay and way to go Westin Dubai.Keep up the good work. I would love to come back at a later stage.
PS: only drawback at the hotel was Hunters Grill - completely over-priced, nothing special and poor service. Bad value for money - and by far the most expensive restaurant there. I would, however, reccomend Bussola to everyone - authentic Italian food and excellent service. I heard from one staff member that their chef, who is from Sardinia, is about to leave, so this might affect the quality for the future, but as of now, it is top notch. Also, room service was great. Good value!
Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Loved this hotel. Nice staff, nice rooms, nice food. However a couple of things dissapointed me. The swimming pools were not very clean, lots of debris floating around the edges. Also I would have expected to get free wifi in all rooms in a hotel of this standard. If these little points were rectifed I would definatly go back.

We were travelling out to Dubai for our best friend's wedding and as we have 2 small children we really wanted it to be a nice holiday rather than a brief city stopover.

We deliberated for some time as to whether to stay at the Al Qasr at the Madinat as we had done twice previously, or give the Westin a try. Price won and we received a fantastic deal via our tour operator which was too good to miss.

When we saw the recent bad reviews we thought we'd
made a big mistake, particulary knowing how superb the Al Qasr had been during our stay.

I can honestly say we adored this hotel. Our room was large with 2 dbl beds which our children (age 5 & 2) were delighted at. Our travel agent did organise this room though-that's our only negative as when I tried to book direct, the terrible central call centre staff claimed a family of four is not permitted in one room. One call from our travel agent who has connections with the hotel, cleared this up immediately. My advice is to book through an agent!

Other than that we were nicely surprised after reading the recent negative reviews. Service impeccable-really. Food (we were half board, a must if staying with children as Dubai is pricey!) was lovely, wide range and beautifully presented. Room and cleanliness was first class. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say and will most certainly be revisiting in the near future. The Al Qasr was hard to live up to, but for value and service, I'd say the Westin is proving to be a serious competitor.

A special thank you to Rennie, the lovliest and most friendly doorman. You can't miss him if you go, he's very tall and handsome!

I have been in Westin two years ago and it makes a great impression on me. Everything from food to service was up to the mark. This year my family and me decided to celebreate Christmas in Westin. We were totally disappointed. The range of dishes is poor, comparing to two years ago range. On Friday we were forced to eat in Le Merridean (the hotel nearby) because in Westin there was a lunch for pay.
And the most revolting thing was the story with deposit and check-out.
When we arrived and checked-in we left a deposit on credit card and signed for the fact that a certain sum of money will be frozen. The system in this hotel is the following - you use all servisec fo the hotel but not pay - simply sign and when you leave - you have to pay. A few days before leaving a sum of money was drawn out from the credit card by Westin not the deposit sum but much more. We asked at the reception what's the matter? They answer that we have exceed the deposit and they drew out this money! But they didn't notify us! It means that when you leve the deposit you let loose to access to your account and they will use it without notifying you. Moreover, when you check-out, carefully check the sum, because they do monkey business. In our account they include breakfasts for one person, athough breakfast are inclded in our package and we shouldn't pay for it (as it appears it wasn't a mistake because they did exactly the same with our friends who accidentally spent there a week after our leaving). If we didn't noticed that, we would pay considerably more.
We asked for a manager but we were answered that he was busy.
So, decide whether you would like to count all the time are you being cheated or not.

We visited during half term with two children 11 & 12. Having taken ages to get through passport control, we were welcomed at about 3.30am with juice and cold towels. We were checked in very efficiently and show to a spacious seaview room with balcony. From arrival, I can honestly say there is nothing I would have changed.
The hotel was large but first class, staff were all friendly and helpful. Food in the Blue Orange was of high quality and the buffet always looked like you were the first one to visit.
Outside areas were ideal with lots of staff to help with beds and towels.
Our only complaint was having to leave at the end of the week.
We were aware of some of the negative points mentioned here but can't say we were trouble by any.
Recomend you book on the website of the Burj Khalifa before you go if you want to go up. We expected to just walk in and pay, but the first slot was 3 days later, unless we wanted to cough up 400aed each to get instant access.
Will save that for the next visit along with all the other things we didn't get chance to do.
Will return and stay at the Westin.

I went to The Westin for 8 days on a crash out holiday with my Mother. We arrived on a very early flight, but our room was available for us to check in to on arrival. However we realised we had been given a room without a balcony, as specified by our travel agent and asked to move to one with a balcony. The hotel were extremely helpful and moved our luggage for us while we lay by the pool. They also arranged for us to do a later check out when we left.

Facilities: The facilities in the hotel are fantastic - there are staff everywhere who are extremely helpful and eager to please. The hotel is immaculately clean and the swimming pools were a perfect temperature. There were lots of staff around to put your towels on sunbeds and adjust your umbrellas, as well as staff who would bring drinks and snacks to your sun bed from the pool bar. The lap pool was great, as you could swim properly without dodging children! Having said that, we went during half term and did appreciate the fact the they separate off a large part of the sunbathing area and pool for guests without children, resulting in a very peaceful environment. If you do go with children though there is a fantastic children's pool and lots of lifeguards. The beds and sunbeds are also incredibly comfy and I slept extremely well inside and outside!

Spa: The spa was amazing and very reasonably priced. The massage was one of the best I have had anywhere in the world, and the facial was fantastic.

Food: The food was extremely good, especially the Italian restaurant which was stunning and regarded as one of the best in the whole of Dubai. The upstairs pizzeria was always very full, although we never ate there. The breakfast buffet had everything you could possibly want, including freshly made omlettes and panckaes. The champagne brunch on the Friday is also definitely worth doing as the food was wonderful and the champagne and wine genuinely limitless!

Negatives: There were very few negatives - the room service/cleaning consistently forgot to replace our wine glasses and flannels in our room. We also arrnaged through concierge to go to the tennis, and they charge us AED150 for someone to go and pick up the tickets for us, when a taxi cost AED50. The Senyah Bar also got very busy and loud on the Wednesday night, and although we couldn't hear it from our room, I did hear some people who had rooms nearby complaining the next day that they couldn't get to sleep due to the base coming through the floor, and the noise of people on the terrace.

Overall it is a lovely, clean and friendly hotel. I would definitley recommend it to families or couples/business travel, and as taxis are so cheap in Dubai, it costs very little money to get anywhere. Just remember to ask for a quiet room when you book!

I first wasn't sure whether I wanted to book this hotel and pay a premium price after having read the comments on here but I decided to have a go and wasn't disappointed.

I will start with the con: the hotel is a giant labyrinth. To access our room (executive suite) we had to take an elevator, change at a precise floor, walk to a next elevator, etc, quite confusing and I did get lost once or twice at the beginning. Also the spa is located at the second floor which is almost impossible to find.

Apart from this, the room was extremely specious and well-appointed. The breakfast choice at the Blue Orange was enormous and delicious, the garden and pools beautifully kept and I found the staff very committed. The location was good too and close to the Marina Walk with its cafés and shops. Overall, it was an excellent and very relaxing stay, and the ideal place to go if you want a beach holiday in Dubai.
