“Converted Aleppo town house of great charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

This large merchant's house with rooms opening a round a central covered couryard with its fountain is a fine way to enjoy old Aleppo. Our room was large and comfortable, but it is a converted house with steps and dark areas. Helpful staff who have little English or French. It took a day to orient ourselves on foot ()take your own map), but we were able to walk comfortably to the citadel, the grand mosque and all the souqs. We could do this several times a day and never needed taxis. It was good to walk out into in the old Armenian quarter with is shops, houses and markets. Not luxury by any means but good value

Recently stayed for two nights with best friends on second floor room. Clean, efficient and conveniently located to explore city. Beds comfortable, safe in room, and breakfast included in rate. Would definitely recommend .

This hotel is a nicely restored classic Syrian building with a central courtyard and very clean attractive rooms. It is a five minute walk to al-Aziza, five minutes to the Christian quarter, and ten minutes to the old city. Overall we liked it very much and would stay again without hesitation.

There were two downsides: all the hard surfaces made it a bit noisy in our room sometimes even late at night when new guests arrived. The breakfast was average, with the lowpoint being the nescafe powdered coffee.

The hotel deserves very high marks for its helpful, friendly, multilingual staff.

This place is full of character and is very atmospheric. There are a few tortoises which crawl around the beautiful courtyard all day and which add to the charm. Our room was quite small but very pretty and perfectly fine. We paid USD100 per night which seemed reasonable compared to some of the very top-end hotels. It was a bit of a hassle securing the reservation though as they didn't accept a credit card number so we had to wire a deposit through Western Union at our own expense. Also the breakfast is only OK. Overall though, the courtyard and the setting make up for these negatives and I really enjoyed the stay here.

Even if you have to walk a bit (more or less 15 minutes) to reach the major point of interests is really a nice place to stay. Staff is really kind, rooms are clean and confortable. Breakfast was good and in a wonderful location.

My wife and I stayed for 4 fabulous days in August 2010. The hotel is amazing and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. At the time there was no restaurant service in the evenings but the staff gave great recommendations and drew maps and directions for us.

If we visit Syria again, Aleppo and Mandaloun wil be the first priority.

The location is perfect for visiting Allepo old and new. We hired a car to tour Syria and parking in Allepo was a pain. I won't begin to comment on the driving...

This hotel is nicely located, between the modern city and Al Jdeyda, just 10 minutes walk from the Omayad Mosque and the souq.
The rooms are located on two floors all around a lovely inner court with a fountain.
In the cellars there is the restaurant and the breakfast room. Breakfast is typical Syrian and OK.
The rooms are big and quiet, comfortable and with AC. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
