“Worth the steps to experience a sacred space and beautiful overview of the town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Mount Phousi is known for its sunset views but I recommend an early morning visit when there are few people around and you can explore the statues of the Buddha, monuments and the 360 degree views across the town to the Mekong and the mountains. You may even catch a glimpse of a squirrel in the trees!

“Beautiful views of LP.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

As a smoker, I struggled a bit with the climb but the incredible views after 10 minutes of pain made it all worthwhile.. It was a bit cloudy when we went up to watch the sunset, but this just added to the dramatic scenery. Great photo opportunities as the views are almost 360 degrees.

“Great little city gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Ideal for sunsets, but very, very, very crowded. It offers great views of Luang Prabang. 20,000k per person. takes about 10 minutes to climb the stairs.

“good exercise and sunset”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

-Located at centre of LP, this is good place for exercise. You can go to the main entrance opposite Royal Meseum, than hike 355 steps(it is easy to get to top), paid 20.000kip for entrance fees.194 steps up and to the top of the hill, from there , view of LP and Mekong river.

-than you can take other way of 100 steps, to visit "daily buddha" such as Sunday Buddha, Monday Buddha etc at other side of hill, and also visit a cave, got Buddha statue in it.

-quite popular sunset point but as LP always in mist, it depends your luck.

“Long hike but what a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

It was a tough climb to the top but the view was magnificent! I bought two birds and set them free at the top! We watched the sunset and were glad we made it!
