“Clean, quiet and hot showers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Sengphet guesthouse was recommended to us by a friend who stayed in Oct 2012. We found the rooms to be basic but clean and comfortable and the bathroom had an excellent strong hot shower. It was the standard Asian style wet room but we have no problems with this as long as it is clean. The room was simple with a double bed and tv (which was never switched on) and wifi was good for Laos.

Tea and coffee was unlimited, as was drinking water. They also provided endless free bananas for all guests! We had our laundry done, and although slightly more expensive than next door, our clothes came back clean and smelling fresh with no damage.

The only reason we have taken off 1 star is that, like other reviews, our friend paid 100000kip/night but we were quoted 180000 which is a massive increase in just 3 months. We eventually settled for 150000 and were happy with the room and facilities but are unsure how the price increased so much when we didn't stay over any public holidays etc.

Anyway we had a great stay and would highly recommend Sengphet. We also used them to book our onward bus ticket to Vang Vieng as they were cheaper than the agents in town.

We stayed for three nights and like the place. It is located near the night market in a small street. The prices are interesting as well for Luang Prabang. For family and couples oriented than backpackers.

Super comfortable beds, very clean and at 100,000 kip for ac AMD tv, super value. Find the lonely planet recommended, then check around the area, that's where you find the gems. We looked at 5 places on the same block and at one of the cheapest, also one of the nicest.

We found this guesthouse excellent value. We were travelling through Laos for 2 weeks and we found this to be the best guesthouse.
As of when we visited we paid just $10 dollars a night for a room (you can't even buy a restaurant meal for this).
For this price we got an immaculately clean guesthouse which was in a perfect state of maintainance in a beautiful old colonial french setting with a fantastic yard to sit and read.
We also got the fastest Wi-Fi (By far) that we had in Laos.
To quote the lonely planet:
'A friendly guesthouse that is a notch above most in this price range'.

In my opinion:
An absolute steal and a place where even my luxury loving mother would stay!

Room Tip: Look at the room first. You possibly don't need air con (Saving 20,000 kip) in the rainy/cold s...
