I stayed in December 2012 for an initial three nights & then returned after a trip for a further two nights. On both occasions I had rooms facing the back of the hotel which meant I had no noise from the main street at the front. There is a open rooftop lounge which has a small office but is a good place to watch the main street during the day & the night market at night.
Both bedrooms were large with good bathroom fittings. Plus both had a large bath as well as a shower.
If you are elderly or disabled you may have an issue with the stairs. There are no rooms on the ground floor - just cafe & reception. So if you are two stories up it is a climb. No lift but the staff carry your bags up.
Wifi was just OK. Several routers but better reception on the ground floor.
Breakfast was included which was reasonable and included tea & coffee. I paid extra to get expresso coffee which was well worth it.
The hotel is bounded by the main street to the front, which can be noisy & a side street to the north that is filled with cheap food vendors at night so that side can also be noisy.
Rack rate is about US$90 per night including breakfast. I was part of a tour group so did not know what the hotel was getting from us. There are plenty of more expensive hotels as well as cheap nearby guest houses. For what I got it was expensive. Laundry was also expensive & charged on a "per item" basis not on so much a kilo as most of the guest houses charge.
It is very well located & easy walking to good cafe, banks, ATM, & travel companies. Plenty of tuk tuks about for local transport.
Staff were pleasant & well spoken. A previous reviewer mentioned that the hotel wanted their passports - this did not happen with us and has never happened in over a dozen guesthouses that I have stayed at in Laos. Sure they want to note your passport when you check in but it is given back to you.
