We recently spent 5 days at this hotel from Feb 25th-March 2nd 2013. We decided on this hotel due in part because of previous reviews but mostly because we really wanted to stay at a property with a pool for our two little boys. We booked two rooms, (a deluxe suite and a deluxe twin room) via Agoda. We were more than happy with the rates and extra pleased to discover that the rooms were side by side (though not connecting). We were travelling with Mom, Dad, a four year old, a one year old and Grammy.
I just love the view as you walk up the stairs from the driveway into the lobby. The architect sure knew what s/he was doing as they designed those doorways and windows. The whole property is a study in how to best accentuate the natural environment.
We always travel with a 'baby seat' but I was nevertheless relieved that the restaurant had a great Rubbermaid highchair for us to use. They also offer babysitting services but we never actually took advantage of that.
Breakfast (and the food in general) was great.
I had a 60 minute foot massage in the spa. The price was about 4X what it cost in town and almost twice what I pay for a foot massage at a mid-range salon in Bangkok. That said, I thought it was a great massage and I found the therapist to be very well trained. The back of the spa opens up onto the rice fields behind it. In hindsight, I wish that the staff had offered (or that I'd insisted on) having the massage out there instead of inside.
One downside were the bathrooms. They were a little outdated and the shower pressure was so strong it actually stung when the water hit you. Moreover, when placed in it's holder, the shower-head shot out in such a way that it ended up flooding the room every time!
If I had one suggestion for the hotel it would be to have a hide-a-bed couch in the living room of the deluxe suite. This would make it better for families with children as there didn't seem to be any connecting suites.
I can understand why some people have commented that the location is a little less than desirable, being that it is located out of town. We actually didn't find this a problem. We caught the free shuttle into town and easily negotiated a tuk-tuk back to the resort if we didn't want to wait around for the shuttle. The going rate is 50,000 Kip or about 6USD; and that was for 5 people. In fact, we enjoyed the location so much that there were days when we couldn't be bothered to leave the resort.
Overall, the staff were never anything but helpful and courteous and we had a great time in this lovely resort. We would easily recommend it to our friends.
