“A Wonderful experience!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

This was a superb hotel in Luang Prabang. The hotel room had great charm and added to my wonderful stay in Luang Prabang. The services were quite good and the staff was very attentive. Luang Prabang in general is a Hidden Treasure and adds to the flavor of your wonderful country. I would love to visit Laos again, and especially this great hotel.

A terrific hotel in a quiet location next to the most beautiful temple in town, but only a few minutes stroll from the town centre . Lovely rooms in various beautifully restored buildings. Very well appointed and sympathetically decorated rooms had many TV channels, an ipod and an anti mosquito plug in - not that we needed it as the whole place is pristine. All staff excellent and for us went above and beyond when we lost our luggage between Bangkok and Luang Prebang - manager gave us a car and driver and sent his deputy with us to airport to sort it out as quickly as possible. Great restaurant with great staff overlooking the Mekong. Breakfast on the terrace excellent and all beautifully and freshly cooked to order. I would recommend this lovely hotel without hesitation.

We have just returned from an extensive tour of South East Asia which included time spent in Luang Prabang, Laos. We would like to recommend the "Xiengthong Palace" where we stayed. Situated in an ideal location, this " haven of peace and tranquility" offers excellent accommodation and service. Superb food and wine is served in the Restaurant, where one can enjoy sitting on the terrace overlooking the Mekong River, or in, the air conditioned areas. Charming, friendly and attentive staff, made this a truly memorable stay. The location of this hotel is a particular bonus, affording the visitor the opportunity of seeing the local life of the town un affected by noise, hustle or bustle. Thank you for a great visit.

The villa af the former king of lao became a very charming hotel right at the mekong river and in the middle of the historic city of luang prabang. my standard room was not very big but had great style and all features one needs. even a state of tje art ipod system and a tv with all international channels. design is lao style arranged with great taste. Bathroom small but wirh showee barhtub and all anemeties. staff extremly helpfull and aervice at check in and restaurant perfect. From my room i had a nice view of the mekong. and the main road wirh the pitoresque scene and colonial mansions just around the corner.

What a spectacular property. Originally had booked out of the old city, but at a friends suggestion change to the Xienthong Palace...and we are so glad we did.

As mentioned, this former Royal Residence is in a prime location. Easy walk to everything . We did not even have to leave the room to watch the monks in the morning. They paraded right by the resort and we could watch it all, from our second floor balcony.

The room was spacious and clean. The loaded iPod shuffle in a docking station made formtje perfect backdrop to sitting on tr balcony at night with a cocktail watching the storm.

Kitchen on the Mekong was superb. Fresh local faire was outstanding. We dined one night and had breakfast each of the three morning.

The staff: professional, well trained and polite beyond measure. One standout employee was Von, who is a fun, friendly lady who commands the omelet station for b'fast and is in the kitchen at night. Great work ethic and a an asset to the company. Her boss, head chef was at our table on all occasions ctomcheckmon things as well, so hats off to him as well.

The spa was beautiful, and the Xienthong special massage just what was need after our day long cooking school.

Highly reccomend a stay at the Xienthong Palace!

My sister and I stayed in this charming hotel this week for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The staff were extremely attentive, gentle and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. My sister has mobility issues and the staff at the hotel built her a wooden step overnight to enable her to more easily access our room!
We would highly recommend this hotel as a place to relax in and enjoy the ambience of old world service and comfort.
