We stayed here for four days from April 20th and we knew we were going to love it from the moment we pulled in to the driveway. We were collected from the airport by the hotel car ( vital as there were no taxis or tuk tuks outside the airport on this last flight in to Luang Prabang for the day and I'm not sure how everyone else made it in to town). Our family room was gorgeous. Two very large queen size beds, separate wardrobe room, separate toilet, separate shower room and an amazing bath. It was more like an apartment than a hotel room. Everything was immaculately clean.
We had the buffet dinner at the hotel on the first night. Really good with lovely service from the staff. The chef came to greet us and when it started to rain the buffet was quickly moved from the terrace to the inside dining room.
We breakfasted here every day and enjoyed every thing about it: the view off the terrace as the school children walked to school, the occasional monk and, of course, the delicious food. You can chose from cooked breakfast, pastries, croissants, pancakes, fresh fruit, French toast, cereals, cold meats, freshly squeezed juices, tea ( twinings in a lovely tea pot) or coffee. Over four days we tried everything and it was all excellent.
We spent mornings and late afternoons at the pool as it was too hot to sight see. The service was impeccable. We had lunch by the pool twice and the food was excellent ( burgers, spaghetti for the children, fried rice, spring rolls). The happy hour cocktails were perfect as was watching the sun set of the terrace.
Finally, I have to recommend the spa. It was amazing! You have to have a traditional Lao massage whilst you are here....the best I have ever had. The massages were much more expensive ( but very cheap by Australian standards) than in town but there is really no comparison with the experience. I tried a highly recommended place in town but it wasn't even close to this. Private yoga lessons are also offered at a fraction of cost we would pay in Sydney.
All in all you can't go wrong with this place. It is a two minute drive from town. The tuk tuk was always available for us when we wanted to go, and we were picked up on time In town every time we requested it. We loved it here and will certainly go back next year. We can't wait! Thank you to all the staff here. You made out stay at Kiridara wonderful.
