My husband and I took a half-day excursion in early November. This included an elephant ride and a boat ride to the Tad Sae waterfalls. Our guide was one of the sweetest people I met in Laos. He kept us informed throughout the morning and afternoon about our upcoming activities, and was friendly and helpful. There were quite a lot of people there, and we ended up taking the boat ride to the waterfalls first, which was absolutely fine with me. The Tad Sae waterfalls are really something, and the boat ride itself was nice and cool and fun. Next up, we had some delicious curry for lunch (included in the package, and there's vegetarian options too) at a shady table, overlooking the river - lovely! Btw, i saw that some people complain about having to wait awhile to ride the elephants - we also had to wait, but it was a beautiful and peaceful place to relax, and we didn't mind a bit. After lunch, we rode the elephants for about an hour in a loop through the river and around the premises. It was nice, and I'm happy to report that the elephants look fit and content.
