“We doubled our stay in Luang Prabang because of this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

This place is awesome - we originally stayed at the second Khammany Inn round the corner (all still very nice, run by members of the same family) but this hostel is probably better - Thu really knows what she is doing and manages to spin many plates to keep everyone attended to! We live in China (originally from the UK) and the bed, air con (so important in this climate) TV and services are all better than we have back at our own home!

This is an inexpensive place for Luang Prabang, but for what you are paying you get a lot. Don't go expecting perfection and 5* services - there are plenty of places in town to get that - but a great base to go exploring the town around.

The girl who runs the hostel is extremely friendly and loves chatting with guests. She is working hard to try and make the hostel more social and is always thinking of ways to improve people's stay. The breakfast is just bread with butter and jam, and you have to hire a towel if you want one, but those are the only drawbacks. Only a few minute walk to the night market. Would recommend this hostel to everyone!

Stayed here a few days! The staff (Thu) is really kind, but sounds like "an [--]" if you don't know her (yelling a lot). The dorms are so nice - good, soft beds with aircon over night and a fan as well. The toilets are clean with toilet paper which is not common in other cheap dorms in Laos. Sometimes the staff is not there and it can be difficult if you are in a hurry booking a trip etc. Another bad thing is that the hostel is kind of far away from the center of the city (15-20 minutes fast walk).

Khammany Inn is a nice place to meet others travellers. Dorms are clean and have good AC and you get free breakfast and free coffee and tea anytime. Staff are funny and helpful but sometimes their special way can be also annoying. Not so typical laid back and easy going attidude like the Laos people. Staff cares a lot about money but about to pay a day in advance(especially if you check out early) they are not flexible at all. Bus-, flight tickets and services are overpriced. You can find easily nearby the same service cheaper.

We booked Khammany by Hostel World as it had really good reviews and was voted number one stay in Luang Prabang and it didnt disappoint us.

On arrival the lovely lady on the desk called Thu was really happy and greeted us checked us in and took us to our room downstairs the room was lovely, bed hard (but most are in South East Asia) mosquito net, wifi, TV, fridge, A/C and a very clean bathroom, so a pretty good room. The location was ok about a 10 minute walk from the hostel to the main night market and restaurants.
Whilst we were staying there were a few other travellers staying in dorms and on hearing a lot of noise we found out that we were next to the shared dorm bathroom which became quite noisy. One evening a few boys went out and got quite drunk and made a lot of noise on coming back but they did apologise in the morning and i suppose its just luck of the draw which room youre staying but it wasnt a deal breaker and we did really enjoy our stay. Thu and the other lady were really friendly and Thu gave us lots of great advice, we would recommend this as a great place to stay in Luang Probang.

We stayed here for two nights in late July - the room was clean and well air conditioned. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was about a five minute walk to anywhere decent to eat and about ten to fifteen minutes to most attractions - very quiet overall. Would definitely stay here again though!

This Inn is a bit of a walk from the main sights, restaurants, markets etc. But we did some price comparisons with other guest houses by the river and the main street and they were all more expensive than a double room here. It was especially good value as the rooms here also have very good AC (a lot the guest houses in town are fan only and those with AC ask for a higher price.)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms have free breakfast but not sure how you get this as ours didn't qualify. Breakfast is only 20,000kip but I would say avoid the milk shakes - they're certainly not like any milkshake I've ever had! More like water-shake! Not an important detail though!

We only stayed a couple of nights and generally this place is pretty good
