“Great Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Unable to get a table at next door Tamarind we had a drink and great dining experience at Aspara. The gin and tonic was what we expected but frequently did not obtain in SE Asia and the local river fish was delicious. Service at he bar and at the table was perfect; nothing was hurried. Not cheap but we highly recommend for a special dining experience.

“Lovely location, great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We ended up here as we had been recommended to go to Tamarind which is next door, the menu there did not appeal to us and Apsara looked inviting with a great menu and tables either in the restaurant or across the road on the riverside... We ate here on 2 occasions as it was so good ... The buffalo is excellent! Service was good without being intrusive. A delightful young English chap ( who may be the restaurant manager) chatted to us and gave us a real insight into local life ... Very interesting! The hotel is owned by a Brit. Would highly recommend this place over some of the other restaurants that are over rated!!

“DINNER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We had an excellent dinner here. The setting and ambience was great. While being able to enjoy the local street life outside the hotel, we felt pampered dining on the restaurant terrace. very well looked after by the staff. We ordered a selection of local dishes, which were beautiful cooked and presented . It was the best food which we tasted during our stay in Laos.

“Not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

You do not go to Luang Prabang for the food. After Thailand, the food in Laos is a let-down. The Apsara is one of those restaurants in LP that makes a big song and dance about its fusion cooking but which is pretty ordinary. I had a very unmemorable meal there, and, like the previous contributor, the tagine was nothing to shout about. Expensive as well.

“Delicious fusion food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We stayed in the lovely hotel and ate here 5 of the 11 nights. The food was delicious. Everything was good and fresh, from their version of spaghetti with fresh tomatoes, olives, & capers, to Buffalo cheeks, and the traditional Lao dishes. Good bar. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner.
