“Good allround”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Profesionallly managed by Dutch American manager. Wide selection of Lao food.presented on a comprehensive menu. Good, tasty food. Perhaps a bit too popular, factory like.

“Good choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Wife and I had lunch at the Tamarind restaurant recently. Food was good and the prices decent. Nice location. Would definitely eat there again. The only "strange" thing was the restaurant manager who spend a lot of time talking to any young woman who came to eat there but never paid ANY attention to the rest of the customers. It has been mentioned in the past on TA and it is somewhat that should be addressed by the owner.
Otherwise, good choice in town.

“Unique and authentic experience of Laos cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Managed to get a booking at this very popular restaurant, and it was totally worth it. Staff were very friendly (particularly the maitre'd Randy), and the menu explaining Laos cuisine super informative for any food lover. The menu had plenty of authentic Laos options, many of which we didn't see at other restaurants in Luang Prabang. Several of the dishes were really memorable, including the soup with bamboo shoots, the lettuce wraps and the "dips", but everything we ate gave us a rare insight into authentic and high quality Laos cuisine. Overall a unique dining experience for anyone visiting Luang Prabang, and well worth the slightly higher price tag than other restaurants in the city.

“Must Do and more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

THis is an amazing restaurant.
Im a food consultant, so im very fussy about what goes in my mouth, and this restaurant didn't disappoint me at all.
I wanted to work my way through the whole menu but lacked the time and the belly space. Thankfully they have fabulous 'taste' plates with combinations of a number of dishes.
All the staff were very obliging, helpful and efficient.
So impressed with the food that we delayed our departure so i could do a days cooking class with them.
THis is a must do.
A trip to the market followed by a very informative hands on class at their rural retreat, and culminating in a lunch in this beautiful tranquil setting.
Do yourself a favour and make sure you book ahead.
I write recipes for a healthy living website and have been inspired by many of their dishes and adapting them to readily available ingredients at home.

“Well worth the wait!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Possibly one of the best meals I've had in my travels, I thoroughly recommend the fish in banana skin with a side of sticky rice & also their long beans - delicious!
Only downside is its very busy so ideal to book. We were told to come back in 30mins which we did but it still took 25 minutes to seat us despite there being some clear tables. Despite this it's well worth the wait.
