We would agree with other reviewers that there is not a huge volume of things to see here, but it's still well worth trip and the hardly financially crippling entrance fee (20,000 Kip / 2.5 USD). The main reason is that, for the English-speaking tourist, TAEC explains a lot more about Lao culture (or cultures) than most other places we visited. The displays are immaculately presented in Lao and English and staff are on hand to have a stab a answering any follow up questions. We enjoyed reading the case studies on courtship in Lao and were lucky enough to be at TAEC at the same time as the 'Lai Heua Fai' / 'Boats of Light' festival. TAEC put on a free class in making these and we joined in. Another excellent experience (though at least 2 of our 4 boats sank within seconds of hitting the Mekong).
