“Best location, happy I'm not somewhere else, the owners from Sweden and so helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Ideally located near many of the best Wats (temples). Lao people are relaxed and accommodating. Rented a Scooter for our a day, only $20, and booked a massage. It’s OK to talk with Monks and they liked practicing their English with us. Young Buddha Monks everywhere. Booked a Mekong River Dinner Cruise. This place is wonderful, and I’m sweating in my boxers again from the heat.

A truly wonderful experience. . . The staff was absolutely amazing, the rooms wonderful and so many touches that added to the experience. Small things like water & beverages in room, golf cart trips to town, a wonderful breakfast each morning, a great restaurant, excellent service in every area. The owners greeting party, friendly and courteous service by all, arrangements for excursions into the country side, river trips and even a trip to the hospital following a minor accident were just a few of the special ammenities we enjoyed. Well, maybe not the trip to the hospital. . . but even that was special. The hotel staff took us there and waited until several stiches were performed and then took us back. . . All of the foregoing were no-charge things and were done in such a way to make us feel so special. It would be hard to stay anywhere else in LuangPrabang. Coffee in the lobby, a wonderful on site and involved owner and so much more made the Mekong Riverview Hotel a wonderful memory for us.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms afford a better vista of the river. . . The suites are more $$, but so worth the...

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Mekong Riverview Hotel.

PROS:
- The staff were extremely nice and helpful beginning with answering questions before arriving via email
- Free airport pickup in a nice van
- Upon arrival at the hotel, Noi had a map prepared for us with the best of Luang Prabang highlighted for us and gave us suggestions to make the most of our stay
- The hotel is on the quiet side of town facing the most beautiful part of the Mekong River.
- The Junior Suite was large with a super comfortable bed with nice bed linens. The bed has a remote control to adjust the back and foot so that you can co for table read or watch TV
- our room had a nice balcony with comfortable chairs and foot rests and had a great view of the river
- the AC works really well in the room and we were able to get the room nice and cold
- the bathroom is large with a big walk in shower and top quality towels. All the fixtures in the bathroom were high quality
- the free wireless Internet in the room is fast
- the restaurant is right on the river with the most incredible view of the river and mountains.
- The manager and owner are very nice and made a point to introduce themselves and also invited the guests for wine in the evening
- free water and sodas in the room are a nice touch
- big safe in the room allowed us to store our laptop and everything else
- 15 minute walk to the night market but a few minutes to great cafes and restaurants

CONS:
- none!!!! The hotel will exceed your expectations. It's the perfect place for a trip of a lifetime. You'll be so happy to come back after a busy day to the quiet, beautiful side of town and relax on your balcony

TRAVEL TIPS:
- you can download the visa application online and fill it out in advance or if you're flying Bangkok Air they will give you an application form on the plane
- you need one photo for the visa application. They didn't seem picky about the size of the photo.
- if you don't have a photo, they will charge you an extra 50 baht when you enter ($1.50 USD) It's cheaper to pay the fee than to pay for a photo in advance
- everyone seems to take Kip, baht or USD. Even the small shops at the night market. Bring a calculator because the exchange rate makes it a little confusing. 10,000 kip = 12 USD
- the money exchangers may try to give you lots of little bills to confuse you and take advantage of you, so make sure you count your money before walking away.

Room Tip: The Junior Suite room 29 is on the top floor with an amazing view and balcony

Followed others recommendations on trip advisor and am very happy. The second floor rooms have a view of the convergence of Mekong and the other river, about 30 meters from our room. It's rainy season in September which besides the rains is nice as it is very quiet and cool. The room is mor local style with loads of lacquered teak, well appointed with seating are, gorgeous terrace and large modern bathroom. Service is friendly and helpful. Walking all over town, I haven't seen anything I like better. The good or bad aspect is it is a longer walk to the center of town, but we like it as it is very quiet and relaxing. Highly recommend this place, not cheap, but great value. No pool or fitness, but serve breakfast right above the river.

Room Tip: Second floor has good river view and a little distance from the street

Little touches make all the difference. Free beverages in the room, nice sized safe, best beds in se Asia, free bikes for touring town, golf cart for distances that are far(or days that are lazy) and great recommendations from Urban. All told, would be hard to imagine staying anywhere else in LP.

Superb location. Breakfast overlooking the junction of the two rivers. Friendly and efficient staff who will book trips and drive you into town. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. Free soft drinks, tea and coffee. Not a lot of communal space. Probably better for couples than families. Our teenagers felt a little cramped. Breakfast was average. I thought it was as little over priced but the atmosphere and friendly staff compensated. Not much privacy on the balconies facing the road.

Breakfast is overlooking the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers with a breathtaking view. Staff extremely helpful, just tell them what you want to do and they will help advise or even take you there. Great room with good facilities. A fabulous hotel in beautiful Laos.
