The first time having dinner at The House, I was the only customer of the day. 'Customer' is actually not the right word. 'Guest' is better, as the owners offered me food for free. And the place being empty, that's because they were in fact closed that day.
I entered the restaurant, late evening, looking for my national cuisine. As an exception, because i prefer local food normally. The two owners, just returned from vacation, were planning tomorrow's big reopening. It was 'big' as they were expecting a large group of about 30(?) people. Especially in the rainy season, this obviously requires some precautions.
Robin & Wim offered me to join them, having dinner, drinking wine, right away. Together with their staff (all Lao), outside at one big table. The day after, I came back, as a more conventional customer.
Excellent food, two times, both the local dish and the French fries on day 1 & 2 respectively. I would say: check it out, great place, awesome food, nicely served. But more long-term memory: very friendly and genuinely dedicated hosts who enjoy their work and with a lot of stories.
