“La Bel Air -Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2009

After a couple of foiled attempts to book accommodation in Luang Prabang, we punted on the newly opened La Bel Air Boutique Resort. And what a choice. Beautifully landscaped gardens next to the Mekong carry a few stunning bungalows ($120 a night) and then hotel accomodation ranging from $60 a night to $75 a night. All rooms are beautifully fitted out (ie big beautiful beds and bathtubs and teles) and the setting is spectacular but the thing that made the stay was the service. We were given the use of a laptop to take advantage of the free wifi, free bikes to explore the town and amazingly attentive staff...all of which made our 4 nights at La Bel Air magnifique! I would advise to ask for a room upstairs or splash out for a bungalow as ceilings can be a bit clonky if downstairs.

A great place to stay! Overlooking the river perfect garden with double lounge chairs. The bungalows (only 4) are just perfect and the beds incredible! Attention to detail and extremely friendly staff. Free bicycle to bike to town as it is not in the middle of the happenings and free internet. It is brand new and I hope the staff won't get burnt out by tourists. Only great comments.

This lovely hotel only opened a few weeks ago and is a complete bargain. Sunloungers overlooking the Nam Khan River make it a perfect place for relaxing with a late afternoon cocktail. The rooms are stunning and it's the perfect base to explore gorgeous Luang Prabang from.
