After a couple of foiled attempts to book accommodation in Luang Prabang, we punted on the newly opened La Bel Air Boutique Resort. And what a choice. Beautifully landscaped gardens next to the Mekong carry a few stunning bungalows ($120 a night) and then hotel accomodation ranging from $60 a night to $75 a night. All rooms are beautifully fitted out (ie big beautiful beds and bathtubs and teles) and the setting is spectacular but the thing that made the stay was the service. We were given the use of a laptop to take advantage of the free wifi, free bikes to explore the town and amazingly attentive staff...all of which made our 4 nights at La Bel Air magnifique! I would advise to ask for a room upstairs or splash out for a bungalow as ceilings can be a bit clonky if downstairs.
