This temple was on my list of 15. Very interesting if you have a little insight but still worth a look in any event.

“Worth A Quick Visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Each page of the 'book' consists of thick stones with ancient myanmar texts carved onto its surfaces. The book was erected and sheltered by individual mini white stupas. You could imagine the intense workmanship and the infinite time taken by the burmese ancestors to finally complete this masterpiece.
You would be stunned by the setting at first. It's a sea of white mini stupas of double the human height. As they all look the same, you shall stop by here for a maximum of 30 mins after snapping some creative shots and move on to your next destination!

“Unusual site in a colorful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

When we arrived in Mandalay in the evening, we drove around and this place caught my eye. It was sooo white that there is no way you would miss this.
We went there very early in the morning. It was quite eerie as there were no people around except 4 of us. But the place is one of the solace for Buddhism. Wonderful view!

The monastery of big books was next on our tour which consisted of many small white buildings that each held a stone tablet with the complete story of Buddhism carved on them.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

I happened upon this place on my way to Mandalay Hill and was so happy that I did. The sheer number of pagodas is staggering and it's a sight like no other in Myanmar.
As this is at the foot of Mandalay Hill it is easily visited on the way to the hill.
