“Nice Hotel - Friendly Staff - Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

Arriving in Mandalay, we decided to stay at the Gold Yadanar primarily due to its location and reasonable reviews on TA. Landing at the airport, we took the free Air Asia bus to the city. As we entered the city we passed the road that the Gold Yadanar was on and fortunately the AA bus stopped just after it to let some people off so we jumped off to and just walked the few blocks back to the Gold Yadanar. Check in was smooth and the staff speak good English. Our room was fine, nice and clean, a good size, TV, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, safety deposit box etc. The wifi worked well too. There is a little bit of building work going on around the hotel but but it's not massively noticeable. Our room had a slight view over a local market but many of the rooms views are now being blocked by a new building which is being build alongside the hotel. Breakfast was good with a range of Asian and Western style foods. Just beside the hotel is the Diamond Plaza which has loads of shops and a large supermarket in the basement which was very handy. The local Chinese market is a couple of blocks away too. We decided to walk to the Royal Palace and Mandalay Hill from the hotel and it took us about an hour and a half (stopping every now and then). At the Royal Palace, they ask for a 10,000 kyat fee per person to visit the palace and other temples / Mandalay hill. If you didnt go into the palace, you could visit all the other places without anyone knowing you hadn't bought a ticket (no one checks or asks for it). The taxi back from Mandalay Hill to the hotel was 4000 kyats (it was hot and we didnt want to walk back so we would have paid anything). We took a boat down to Bagan and although we sorted our tickets direct with MGRG the hotel did offer to do this for us. The hotel organised our taxi to the boat for 5.45am and the driver was there on time (cost was 6000 kyats). Overall, a nice hotel, good value for money and we would stay again.

Very decent hotel with nice beds, free breakfast and wifi. I'm not sure if they offer free pick up from airport because we came from the bus station, didn't bother to ask. Hotel staff are friendly, always willing to help and speak English. Hotel location is just across a market and big grocery.

On long term business trip in Mandalay, i tried several hotel in Mandalay, to finaly decided to stay in Gold Yadanar.
This hotel offer high standard rooms, large rooms with all necessary facilities. Good wifi in the rooms. Flat screen TV with international movie channels, very clean.
All staff and the general manager are very friendly and helpfull whatever you need. There is a restaurant which offer very acceptable breakfast, lunch and dinner at very reasonable price.
The location of the hotel is also excellent. Right next to Diamond Plaza shopping center, you can then easily find whatever you need in walking distance.
I would definitaly recommend this hotel which offer very good rate for the standing, spending little bit more than most of budget hotel and avoid spending high rate of the high class hotel in Mandalay.

Gold Yadanar Hotel, Mandalay , Myanmar from November 4 to November 6 , 2013

The Hotel is rather new ( opened in March 2013 ) and is situated in heart of "Mandalay". It is near Mandalay Royal Palace, Mandalay Mountain and the Mandalay Market. The Hotel is very clean, offers comfortable accommodations. The Hotel has a total of 40 rooms , same of them are small, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is plentiful , the typical Western / Asian offerings , it's a nice little Hotel. If you need Kleenex, Toilet Paper ,Pillows , the Housekeeping Dept. knocks on your door within 2 minutes to deliver the items with a smile. ( give the person a tip , they are so grateful for it) . The rooms have all the modern amenities, the decor is contemporary trimmed with light wood. We were in room 402 . The market is a MUST see and a short walk from the Hotel. While in Mandalay be sure and visit also, the Wooden Temple " Kuthodaw " go up the hill to Sutaungpyai Pagoda, to look over the vast Delta, and watch the sunset from here. Also visit the " Malamuni Pagoda" and in Amapura the Monastery Mahagand Hayon, where over 1000 Monks line up for the Alms giving …. they have their bowl in their arms to get their food , and than the PARADE begins. A MUST see…. there is another wooden Temple called Shwe Inn Bion. Mandalay, is worthwhile visiting.

Stayed here three nights. Best value for money in Mandalay. Good service at front desk. Breakfast not the greatest, food often cold. Washroom shower design poor. Room safes ridiculously complicated. Beds and pillows need to be upgraded as neither is comfortable. If those issues are addressed could be 4 plus stars.

Gold Yadanar Hotel has neither fitness center nor swimming pool but the comfort, cleanliness and central location of this hotel said it all. This is without mention of the beautiful and helpful staff there.
I went there with a group of 9 friends, and we booked for two family room, YEAH, this room is big and nice. However, my room has no view of the surrounding area. The location is one worth to mention as well because this hotel is not only next to the local supermarket but also the local night market (very local) which is just 5mins walk. There is one local canteen at the other side of the market, where the staff and local food were excellent plus a very affordable price. Above all, it's another pleasant experience for a group of gangz... ^^,
