“Can't wait to go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We were a bit worried when we saw some of the negative reviews, but i am glad I booked this hotel.
We had an initial problem with our room (3 single girls, 1 double bed) but it was soon rectified, once we had managed to get the lady on reception to understand the problem.
Mark, the guest relations manager, was great. Really helpful & Fun. Chloe (Thomson rep) was also really helpful.
The hotel was clean and looked lovely and the welcoming drink was much appreciated.
The room was basic, but fine. It would have been nice to have a fridge, without paying extra for it. Only 1 English tv channel, but we weren't there to watch telly so not a huge issue.
The pools were lovely. Spent most of the time by the quiet pool. 'Baywatch' the lifeguard, was great fun and totally 'got' our sense of humour. The bar staff were amazing. 'Any drinks ladies?' Rose wine please, beer please 'Why Not!!' The new water slides were great (the ones we were brave enough to go on anyway!)
The restaurants were fine. Not the most amazing food in the world but plenty of choice and I definitely put on a few lbs!!! 'My Happy' in the restaurant was fab!!! I though the hotel should have had more information about the different restaurants i.e opening times and types of food (The Mediterranean restaurant offered us Beef Vegetables or Chicken Vegetables and when we asked if there was a vegetarian option, we were told 'Chicken!!')
Had a facial and pedicure in the Spa and would have had more if the 'menu' had been in English.
All in all we all had a proper 'chill out' holiday and I have already booked to go back next year with the other half. Can't wait!!!

Room Tip: The bungalows are great!!!

We spent 2 weeks at this hotel, from the 2nd June to the 16th June, I had been a bit concerned prior to getting there due to the reviews on here, I paid less for 2 weeks all inclusive here than I normally do for one week in other countries.
All in all I am very happy with this hotel, the food was fine, plenty of choice, the rooms were very clean, with bedding changed most days and fresh towels daily, the rooms are very basic (but really for the price of the holiday what do you expect) the whole complex was clean and bug free, staff were very friendly,
the kids club reps tom and kayleigh were superb, I did not have kids with me but got friendly with a couple who had kids so had some interaction with them, in my opinion they went way beyond what was expected of them, on a couple of evenings they took the kids to dinner to allow us adults to have dinner,
Chloe the Thomsons rep was fab as well as Mark the hotels own guest relations manager, any issues you have (though really you shouldn't have any) will be quickly sorted out.
the animation team were fab, kiki is like marmite your either going to love him or hate him, personally I loved him, every animation team needs a real mix of characters this one has it, they had me doing things well out of my comfort zone, I would even go as far as to say I enjoyed my night on stage competing in the best couple, this holiday was made for me by the people, we had some really good laughs with the people who worked in this hotel and people on holiday there, the only down side for me was the chap in the foyer that kept on at us to do the medina trip, I did feel slightly harassed by him, but after mentioning it to Mark
it stopped. I would say if your looking for a cheap cheerful holiday lazing by the pool, you cant go wrong with this, even if kiki is not your cup of tea there are plenty of other pools to escape from him. Failing that lob him in the pool,

As soon as I saw this hotel and pictures in the brochure, I knew this was where my boyfriend and I were going to be spending our 2 weeks on holiday.

We arrived at Thalassa Sousse around 2 in the morning and didn't have to wait long to be taken to our room. The room was basic but nice enough with a good view of the complex. Being a girl who over packs, I would have liked to have more shelving space, but I managed with what was there.

We sat by the quiet pool for the first couple of days and the lifeguards were very friendly and always smiling. The water slides were AMAZING and in the end my boyfriend (who was not so keen on the fast slides) wanted to go on them every day, we had a great laugh with the lifeguards.

We went down to the beach for one day; it is quite small but didn't have a problem finding a sun lounger. Soon after we sat down, about 20-30 school kids came along for a school trip, but they were well behaved and also entertained us singing some chart hits :) We also went paragliding for the first time, and I would do it again as it was a great way to see Sousse.

The rest of our holiday we sat around the main pool area where there is music playing for most of the day and the animation team coming round and chatting to everyone. They knew our names after a few days and were always friendly (I ended up dressing up as a Tunisian newlywed with my husband being Kiki (one of the animation team).

The complex is huge, so much so that we only found another bar area during the second week of our stay!

There were always cleaners going around the hotel making sure everything was spotless and our maid was very cheery and pleasant.

We also done the spa package on our 3rd day for 200 dinar (around £80 for 2 people) and it was lovely, felt very relaxed after and knew I would get a great tan after.

Food was good, but ended up getting fed up during the second week as you knew what you were having each morning and lunchtime and had to be brave at tea time to try something different, (I am a bit of a fussy eater though)

All in all, this hotel is very nice and we both felt we went at the right time as the last few days it started to get really busy as it was coming up to the summer holidays. Would definitely come back to Tunisia and stay at Thalassa Sousse again.

Room Tip: At first we did want a Bungalow, but ended up having a hotel room on the second floor. We actually p...

We have just returned after a 2 week stay.....3rd visit to this hotel but I've been to Sousse roughly 18-20 times in total, Thalassa is by far the nicest hotel I've stayed in and is worth every penny, my only concern is with the new water park if the prices go up too much it will put us regulars off (subtle hint for the powers that be)!

We requested a poolside bungalow as this is what we had last year, we were given the room we requested, they are spacious, clean, air conditioning works perfectly towels and bedding changed every day, TVs not fab but who goes to Tunisia to watch TV??????? Our outside light broke twice during the stay and was fixed both times within 30 minutes of being reported.

The beach is small but clean and not overcrowded, the size is ideal if u have overactive toddlers to keep an eye on! The main pool is huge and the smaller pool is quieter, we always found a lounger no matter what time of day we went and there were 5 of us. The new water park is amazing and much better than the water park you pay to visit in Kantaoui!

The food is fine, not amazing but in comparison to other places I have stayed its great and there is always something to eat even for fussy folk......you can pretty much eat 24 hours and drink 24 hours during high season. The staff cannot do enough for you from reception staff to cleaning staff, bar and waiting staff to animation staff and of course Mark the guest relations manager, why other hotels in Sousse don't employ an English guest relations manager is beyond me!! MoMo, GoGo and Diams (the mini club girl) were all amazing and quite obviously adored our little one Josh as he did them they kept him constantly entertained, GoGo remembered him from the previous year which was nice ;) The whole team off staff work extrememly hard for not a huge amount of money and in my opinion were more than pleasant My friend Haikel who works with the shisha pipes and little baby faced Aymen were lovely and we cant wait to see them all again.

Overall I cannot understand where the negative reviews come from for this hotel......I just read that the pools were cold.......well they are outside and once the 36 degree sun is shining from 8am they soon warm up!

See you all again soon especially Mark, MoMo. GoGo, Diams, Haikel and Aymen

Much Love
Gemma, Faye, Kaylee, Michael and of course JOSH!! xxx

Room Tip: its a little dark down by the beach at night and can be quite noisy by the slides but wherever you a...

so ive never wrote a review on here before but felt that people really need to no a few things... Mark is your answer to everything and anything you need. the service is pretty poor from everyone but him. he is the relations manager, basically there to get the hotel up to standard of where it should be which isnt far from it at all to be fair. once he has done this the price will increase so much as it has the potential to be a 4*+ hotel. it has already increased a couple of hundred since we have been home.

when me and my partner first arrived we was amazed at the size of the place, its massive, and the water park they have recently built is amazing. the pools are lovely, but I never saw them being cleaned which meant you could feel sand in the bottom of them all the time which wasnt great. speaking of sand, we never used the beach facilities but we walked along it a few times and its beautiful. you definitely will see you are staying in the best hotel around.

the food is standard of other countrys such as turkey and egypt, and there is so much choice so never went hungry. if you are a tea drinker, take your own tea bags as its awful out there, but if you like coffee then no need to worry. nescafe and a coffee machine is there morning till night. im always ill on holiday, but this was the first place the food has not upset my stomach so I would definitely recommend it for the fussy or cautious eaters. im missing the fresh pancakes for breakfast, and ice cream and water melon in the evening already.

we requested a bungalow once there which they made out was a big deal and tell you they get tips for putting people in them, but they cost no extra so ignore them. they want tips for everything. the bungalows are nice but have the same decor and layout as the normal rooms. because the bungalows are ground floor, we had a few big ants in the room at night. we used our bug spray to spray around the seals of the doors and that stopped them coming in.

lastly the animation team, they work so hard and were amazing. kiki is hillarious, gogo and billy were lovely and always very friendly day and night. they would even offer to take us places, such as to a better shopping place, on their one day off which was lovely. they put on brilliant entertainment in the evenings as well which we watched every night.

my partner and i stayed at the thalassa hotel for 2 weeks when we arrived i thought what a lovely hotel but as the week progressed it only seemed to get worse! we spent a few days round the pool but in the end we stopped going as one of the animation team got on our nerves keep asking for beer we come on holiday to relax not to be pestered for drink by the hotel employers.
my partner was surprised that kiki the animation guy could get away with the things he does with the guest.eg: lays on top of the girls, kissing the women. we thought that the thalassa was a hotel for couples and families but it seems its a place for the animation to have fun. reo was a little gem and mark he was just a superstar. the food was a little disappointing. the rooms were clean but very basic.

Room Tip: don't have a bungalow near the pool unless you want to be awake early

We went for 11 nights arriving on the 5th of June 2013.
We asked the travel agent for a pool view and double room and got a bungalow with not only a pool view but also a sea view.

Neither me nor my husband have either been to Tunisia before so didn't really know who to expect so we read reviews on here so we went not knowing what to expect. The hotel is very clean, good facilities especially the slides which kept the husband very entertained (which is not an easy thing to do). All of the staff were very pleasant whether or not you tipped them however a little tip goes a long way.
You do get the hotel excursion staff asking you whether you want to go on the trips but once you say no they get the hint and leave. We did however go on the pirate ship excursion through the hotel and i must say we wish we had gone through Thomson as we paid for the trip and ended up being put in a taxi with a few coins then once we arrived at the boat being quizzes how much we actually paid for trip was not what we expected. We also went to the friguia park which i would recommend to families again a little tip goes a long way as we were able to feed the giraffe. We also had a couples massage for my husbands birthday Maria the lady who did this was lovely although it was very difficult sometimes to communicate with her as she only spoke French we managed to understand each other after a while we then went through for the actual massage the two staff that gave the massage were notes friendly and didntbsmile or talk to us but everything else at the spa was worth the money.
Food wise we always found something to eat which is good as i m rather fussy. The life guards around the pool that we mainly went to were brilliant not to mention very friendly considering how long hours they work,on many occasions we saw marwen and brahem both teaching children to swim!
The only minor issues we had was the air con was very noisy at night but we just turned it off and the other was that when the beach party was on it was very noisy in our bungalow especially as we Flew home the early on Sunday and beach party is on Saturday night.
Overall it was a fantastic holiday and lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We asked for a double with a pool view and had a pool and sea view bungalow.
