“great holiday with family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We had a great holiday at Marhaba Salem. The room had new furniture and it was big enough for mum+dad+1 kid. The food was good, the little one always had something she could eat. The overall conditions of the complex was great: fantastic swimming pools (we could use also the facilities of hotel Royal Salem, which is part of the same complex), nice beach, all inclusive service, indoor pool and spa) The staff was always helpful and kind. The animation team was professional and did a great job to entertain the guests.
Sousse is a good choice if one wants to combine relaxation and sightseeing. We will definitely return there

Where do you start first time in tunisia and we will be coming back and staying here
Don't forget if you stay here and people put only one small pool it's not true there is 2 sister hotels here with 5 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool you can use them all .
Plus the beach you can drink at any of the 3 hotels but must eat at yours but if at the beach please note you can have lunch at the beach bar so not far to go
Food was to be honest good if you can't find something you like I would try jumping off the top floor because you must have some problem .
You can even have just the salad fresh pizza and pasta to order
Lamb was to die for and fish .if your veggie we meet many they all said it was not a problem .
The entertainment team sorry not for us good with the kids if you have them the guys are great and the girl she doesn't know how to smile or talk to people if your with out kids
The evening was so well the same ie start the music at 7.45 pm and after night one you can name that tune in order every time night after night .
All the staff where great yes we did tip our waiter ,maid and bar staff plus the bag guy a lot no ( wages are poor)
Our room was big so clean and bathroom was huge .
For that point clean the whole place was spotless
We have been to Spain all inclusive and the drinks are weak the food is poor and to be honest I don't think they what us
We had a delay both here and to Spain flight wise Spain we got to the hotel anything to eat we asked not you missed it
Tunisia same thing yes we had food sorted and drink before all the forms needed to be filled in
To to the drag act next door it's a good night out and the reps one
Do not go on the tour for the fixed price carpet shop and markets you have men warned
Use the noddy train it's 3.5 return to the centre or port you must get the same train both was we always got the yellow train blue back this guy will look after you very well .
Tip take a sweat band or turn your hotel bands around so no one can tell what hotel your from
As soon as your on the pavement they are your bus driver waiter etc
Don't take the free chains nothing is free honest
Market. price they ask offer 10% if you want a shop go to the main road and turn left about 300!yards called the palms not bad
If you want water just ask at the pool or beach bars for a bottle 1.5 ltr ones all part of the package
The rep was great dan
All in all our stay was great oh and like many hotels your room key is on a key ring with a big metal number on it you put that in a slot to get the power on we took the key off after it was cleaned we put the thing in the power slot and left the air con on when its hot you will need it on .water always hot ,shower gel and hand wash in bathrooms
Just take pounds and change it at the sister hotel cash machines are around I used them fine

Room Tip: 320 but any room

I would like to draw your attention to the review written by CaraLou82 because it pointless me going over the same things, what she has written is a true picture and please take no notice of the one written just afterwards. This is a very good hotel and has just been awarded the Tunisian Award for Tourism,I have been to a number of Hotel's in Tunisia (Rui) are some of the best and this is coming close the food is very good a choice for all, rooms very clean we had flowers every day (I did tip the cleaner on the first day), I think the one thing that lets the complex down is the size of the Beach it's on the small side for 3 hotels and it's difficult to keep clean but they do try I think the problem is they have made 3 barriers in the sea to try and create a lagoon but all it seems to do is hold the sea weed and rubbish in because on each side of the barrier it's fine, so all I will do now is confirm, the animation team are great they work very hard, food is good, plenty of drinks of all sorts, good service, plenty of sunbeds this time of the year, a couple of points to look out for,the surface around the pool is a bit rough on the feet and the Russian's spitting and blowing their noses on the floor and of course pushing in at meal time. All in all a nice hotel and I would go back any time. Sorry just to warn you the music does not stop till mid-night if your room over looks the smaller pool but hey your on holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for block C not over looking the smaller pool

Arrived back yesterday and already looking at returning. Spent a week here which unfortunately for us was not quite enough. Went with my wife, daughter (20) her boyfriend (23) and our 8 month old granddaughter. We did spend the bulk of our holiday on the hotel complex which had plenty of pools, bars, restaurants and snack bars. The service was great, a few dinar tips here and there made a big difference. We had our own waiter in the restaurant who reserved the same table every day and ensured our glasses were never empty. The food was always freshly prepared and always plenty of it with a good variety to suit most people's needs. The animation team were always friendly and tried their best to entertain in their evening shows, we would recommend the fire show if you get the opportunity. The beach is kept as clean and tidy as possible in a country that still haven't quite grasped the concept of the litter bin and is worth spending time there if just for the water sports. Parasailing, jet skiing and water skiing 30 dinar (45 for 2 people) banana boat, rings, sofa and flying fish 15 dinar, and at 2.5 dinar to the pound that's £12 and £6 respectively, absolute bargain. We were taken around Sousse by a hotel guide for no more than a tip, recommended as he also helps with the haggling (firstly takes you to government shop to see rugs being made and local jewellery and leather goods, but are quite expensive). We took a taxi to port el kantoui for the day, there is a funfair (we never tried) and a small "zoo" a few birds, a camel and some goats but at 5 dinar(£2) it's worth a wander round. Just outside the hotel to the right is a souvenir shop with a boutique style shop of "genuine fake" designer clothes and just past is a bank with cash machine. To the left is a large 3 floored souvenir shop with lots of bargains and a great little engraving guy that costs peanuts to have your gifts personalised in both Arabic and English. A little further down the road is Casa del Gelato, the ice cream restaurant with great, cheap ice cream sundaes and proper coffee with the added bonus of free wifi access. All in all We loved the whole experience and highly recommend it for a cheaply priced African holiday with everything you need to make it as relaxing or as active as you would want.

Can't believe people's reviews on here raving about this hotel where to start 1.Food well the fruit and pancakes were nice most of the food was reheated gunge 2.Pools nice pools though the salt water ones were not the cleanest and woe betide if you didn't get up early for a sunbed (unless you tipped a lifeguard) 3.Entertainment awful unless you were female the shows of a night were of the lowest standard I have ever seen 4.Rooms basic but kept clean 5.Drink watered down shorts and the flattest lager I have ever tasted
