3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2009

arrived back 1st Nov 09 Travelled with 2 adult daughters. Reception and ground floor impressive. Ioutdoor and indoor pools loevly. ts true what others have said about the upper floors very dated and grubby. Room ok 2 star nothing else it was clean but once again shabby. Only once did the toilet smell we kept the lid down at all times Towels changed evryday didnt notice any smelling musty. Outside the hotel isnt very good. There are some places to go but night life doesnt start until the wee hours and thats only good if you can stand the hassle from men. had a look at the private beach but the lane down to it is appalling! there were lots of builders and trucks and the smell would make you vomit so didnt bother after that 1 look.
The entertainment - 1 word SHOCKING!! I ve never had so many early nights. Trips - we did the camel caravan- good fun ! Had spa treatments and a massage place a bit shabby but worth it for the experience. Medina and Port El kantoui worth a visit. We got followed around by suspicious looking men so threatened them with police! Food in hotel - plentiful staff helped and prepared special dishes as daughters need gluten frree food - chef excelled himself! Its cheaper to use pay phones you look for sign that says Taxi phone and theyre usually inside shops This holiday was an experience glad i went but wouldnt go again.
Be prepared to tip everyone!!

My partner and I went here in february with friends.we all really enjoyed it. we had lovely clean rooms overlooking the swimming pool. the food was good with plenty of choice.lots of things were cooked specially for you. the indoor pool is very good -very warm. why do people go to tunisia and then complain about the souk?? it is good fun if you enter into the spirit and enjoy haggling.Go with an open mind and remember it is a very different culture over there. our only complaint about the hotel would be the man who works on the money exchange in reception..he tried to short change us but when we asked for the correct amount of money he didn't quibble. He knew what he had done.

Well I hate to say it but this was the worst holiday I have ever had. A frequent visitor to countries like Tunisia - Egypt, Turkey for example, I was appalled by how dirty (the rooms) and dated this hotel and resort are. Everything in the hotel was from 1990 and hasn't been updated since. At the moment the hotel is also in the middle of a building site where work starts promptly at 7:30am everyday.

As a young couple this resort (Sousse) has nothing to offer and we spent most of the week watching the MBC channels in the room - thank goodness for the film channels!

That being said the staff were brilliant especially the maid who really was lovely. The hotel buffet was above average and overall I have to say all the staff were so friendly - we felt sorry for them because they really were trying their best.

I don't usually leave negative reviews - but honestly if you are under 50 there are much better places to stay.

We have just had a week in this hotel. We found all the hotel staff to be polite and friendly.
The food was ok, but nothing briliant. Some dishes that were local were very nice. in fact the best food we had was at lunch times round the corner in a small cafe which was very cheap(about £2 for a meal with a starter and a drink, plus lots of french bread) (you just wouldnt think it by looking at the place(thier stand of hygeine is different to ours but worked fine for us!).
The rooms were of a decent standard and kept nice and clean,. The only problem being slightly smelly toilets as they dont appear to have U-bends
If your having a beer from the hotel dont put up with a large head on ya beer.
There isnt a lot of places to drink unless you go in to the hotels. We went to a lot of cafes and drank tea/coffee which was a much better experiance and slightly of the tourist track.

The Medina at sousse was good to walk round, You just get used to ignoring people who ask you to buy something. Its the best policy. Once you get started its hard to get away. However we brought back some wonderful spices from their and very cheap to. Just avoid all the cheap tack that has been shipped over from china (some people are easily fooled)

The beach near the hotel was nice and the sea was lovely and warm.

We didnt do any excursions through any agents. But went to carthage and el jem to see the roman ruins by train which was a good experiance and would recommened rather then using a bus.

The place did seem a bit dirty in places.

But all in all a very enjoyable holiday, well priced and worth going to.

I agree with some reviews were a bit harsh with comments reguarding this hotel we enjoyed our stay and would go there again, the food wasnt bad have had a lot worse. The hotel was kept clean and the staff worked hard to achive this, no problems there, the beds and rooms were done daily fresh towels every day. Everyone who worked there were always friendly and polite, id just like to pay a mension to our rep from Thomas cook called Jody was by far one of the best reps weve encountered answered all our queries, and our problems always nice and helpfull thankyou. a problem we did encounter was using the ATM machine for money unless you speak french or arabic it is difficult to use them, we found one all though not english we learnt how to use it and the colour code helped. a bit of advise take as little money as you can because if you have a lot at the end it is against the law to take this currency home, and you can bee charged upto 30% to change it back i dont agree with this but this is how it works, the bank ATM we used was the AMEN BANK. Tips are taken by waiters and the sun lounger people who bring you a lounger topper, about Half a dinar to a dinar is fair, however if they were paid a fair wage this would not be necerssary. Our room maid made pretty patterns with the sheets and did a new one every day. The hotel as two swimming pools and its own shopping mall Clothes are not a bad buy, But dont buy a watch i have warned you lol there crap. cheapest form of transport arround the resorts are the noddy train, and the tuk tuks these are like motorbikes with a carriage arround them, the rep warned us there not a reliable transport for different reasons but we liked it and it got us to our destination. Taxis negotiate a price first before you get in. You get hassled to go in shops quite abit but just politly say no thankyou, and move on dont tel anyone your hotel when in the medina as you are tricked into going with someone and forced into buying something just say youve been here many times and say no thankyou. have a nice holliday.

not long back from this hotel.it was down as 4 star, was more like 2 star. reception area was nice enough, buy brdrooms and corridors were smelly, and toilet blocked 4 times the week we were there. the food was horrible and deserts were crap, we only found out we could have ice cream but had to ask the waiter. also we were constantly hasseled when we went to the medina and to el jem, they wouldnt take no for an answer. it was nice yo see the country and it wasnt expensive, but they will try and rip you off. wouldnt go back, all the hassling at shops was very stressfull.

The hotels public areas were clean and well presented but the rooms were tired and needed updating. Kept really clean though and the maid sulpted the towels and night wear into patterns each day- nice touch. On the whole I found the staff very disinterested it was not unusual to be kept waiting to be attended to whilst they finished off a conversation. I also found them too attentive to my 22 year old daughter, they never left her alone (and not in a good way!) The funny thing was by the time we were nearly ready to come home they began to smile at us! Yoseph the photo guy however was lovely.
The cashier in the hotel never gives you the correct money only the full dinars never the fractions of dinars because he never has change. I know it sounds petty for a few pence each time but it seemed to sum up the attitude of the population "get all you can from the tourist".
The shop in the hotel had no prices on and what they were trying to charge was way in excess of the shops around the hotel. The tattoo place was a complete and utter rip off. £25 for a henna design on the back of a hand. Overall compare your prices across a few shops as they seem to be very random and varied.
The pools were very clean and if you wanted to be alone there was never anyone in the indoor pool. The beach is nice and the bar down there cheaper than the hotel but you have to cut down an alley next to a hotel to get to the beach and the road can be busy. There is a lot of building work going on in Sousse. Noise wasn't a problem but it's not really a pretty area because of it.
Drink prices in the hotel were about £2 shot for spirits, £3.50 for a pint and 70p mixers.
Food was ok, lots of variety on each evening but then the same menu each day.
We went with Thomas Cook group and the rep Jodie was very good. Think we saw a lot more of her than you usually see your rep.
We went on the organised camel ride which was good but the camel men became quite in your face on the way back, demanding tips, very pushy which was a shame because it had been great up to then. Be aware that when you arrive they put head dresses on you. They do you all so it looks as if they are free but then come back for the money.
The African dream trip and meal was very good - I recommend that one.
Finally when you go back to the airport you can't spend your dinars in the airport and you can only change back notes and you only get a very poor rate. Airport shops were also expensive.
