“Worth it's money. A holiday is what you make it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It has to be said this hotel deserves better reviews then what it has been receiving.
Here's the essay;
Young couple on our first holiday in Tunisia. Staying on an all inclusive basis.
On arrival at the tej marhaba we thought wow it really does look like the pictures.
Inside the reception area was beautiful all marble and clean, only down side was there was only one man checking 20+ guests and at 1am you don't want to be waiting around.
The concierge carried our bags to our room which was helpful as finding our room might not of been as easy if he hadn't. At that time we didn't have any dinar so we gave him £1 and he was very grateful.
Our room was very spacious and clean, our bed was massive (a double and single made into one). Although some rooms do have different. We happened to get a pool and sea view which we didn't pay for which was an added bonus. Yes the shower head is very low as previous comments state but I'm of average hight and had no problem, the power and quality makes up for it. Best shower I've had abroad. So yes there's a few stains on the carpets and in certain places the hotel is a little tired but for how many people are passing through it's a large hotel and maintenance must be hard.
Breakfast: rather simple; toast, sausage, meat, salad and cereal. The usual you would expect from a hotel. A nice added extra was a wide choice of breakfast juices and they did pancakes which were beautiful.
Lunch: there was always chicken or turkey for fussy eatters, chips and salad along with a range of other dishes and many desserts to choose from.
Dinner: pretty much the same as lunch. Top tip; if your a big drinker order two drinks each as otherwise you can wait a while as the staff are busy in high season. It states a dress code of long trousers for males at evening dinner unfortunately this isn't enforced as people where wearing what ever they wanted.
The pool area is beautiful plenty of sunbeds to be had. Always clean and the guys always get you beds and cushions. Pool bar is ideal to get your drinks and snacks from however drinks are served in plastic party cups, yes it's a good idea but maybe if they were better quality so when you took a drink you didn't spill half of it.
There is a lovely indoor pool. It's set out as a spa but unfortunately it wasn't complete while we was here.
The shopping centre attached to the hotel is good and worth a look. When shopping though don't pay something straight away as we found the same things at different prices in different shops.
There are other bars and restaurants attached to the hotel which looked nice but we didn't visit them. One place we did go was the Saloon Bar Steak House it was very nice and a change of scenery.
Entertainment at the hotel was good in the daytime many different activities including water polo, water aerobics, darts and bowls. Evening entertainment wasn't great but they did try.
Our holiday was last minute and the price was perfect we couldn't grumble about anything significant we have a wonderful holiday and would return back.

I like it there. The hotel is nice and quite large, the room is very presentable and clean. Breakfast is quite good. Overall , commendable indeed.

Only drawback, at least for me, is no free wifi in the room but only in the lobby.

All travelers,
please read this honest review before you go ahead and book a stay at this hotel.

I stayed in many 3 or 2 stars hotels over the past years and always was very pleased with the service, kind and helpful staff, food quality and holiday experience overall. But what we experienced during our stay this time was not worth even a one star.

Staff was rude and the waiters tried to rip us off on a daily basis. From the worst I mention topping up beer to an unfinished glass left after another guest. (this we witnessed 3 times!)
If you don't go down to a restaurant within first 20 minutes after opening you have no chance of getting cutlery or a clean napkin (which they re-use!).
The waiters (well 2 of them who we had a chance to witness) told us strait away to give cash just to them without receipt so they can this way earn some money for themselves.
The worst staff member is the guy who serves at the pool he kept offering my boyfriend camels as an exchange for myself. This made me feel very uncomfortably and unsafe. The pool was clean. The room was spacious with a nice view but the furniture is really old and the refurbishment is much needed (also in the bathroom). First two days the water pressure was really poor but was fixed after we requested it for the second time. The beds were large and comfortable. Sometimes the towels had really funny smell (like they would never been washed just dried).
However, the maid who cleaned our room was really helpful with a positive attitude, even she spoke little English she can be for sure an example of a great customer service for other members of staff.
The food in a cantine was an absolute disaster. Poor selection and hard to identify, it does not say what is in it and almost everything reminds of stew. I got very sick after 2 days and had diarrhea for next 15 days.

The beach was okay, however after the incident we witnessed we did not go back anymore. The beach should be private but I doubt it. Group of 6 locals got into fight (from what we understood because of the football) and believe me it was noting funny lots of punches and kicking and one of them broke the glass bottle and started to chase the other. This happened just where the kids are playing and guests sun bathing. My boyfriend had to go to call the security from our hotel. This is absolutely unacceptable.
The only time I enjoyed swimming at the sea was when we woke up 5:30am and the beach was empty without locals pushing you to buy souvenirs.

The manager of the hotel thanked us for our feedback and promised he would do anything to make sure these things do not happen again. He recommended a great seafood restaurant and offered us complimentary drink on the way back to the airport. However, it's a shame he works for hotel like this.

If you decide to go to Sousse choose a different hotel (minimum 5 star) Movenpick for example.

Me and my boyfriend are coming on the 10th of August and reading some of the reviews it sounds like a scary place, I'm slightly worried! Is it a safe place to go or be out at night time, if you wanted to go out for a meal or drinks? The place and the hotel look amazing though! I am excited but nervous as I haven't been before and I'm not quite sure what to expect? Is there any bars or places to eat near this hotel so you don't have to venture out to far away from hotel? Thank you

First of all I would like to say, that not everybody likes the same thing, I have just come back from Tej Marharba in Sousse. It might be a little dated, but overall it was comfortable enough as we usually only sleep there. The maid service was excellent, she worked hard and always did our room nice. The food is ok, only continental for breakfast but they do do omelette and pancakes but you have to get in a long line. The only thing I would say is take a tea spoon with you cause you cannot get them for love nor money. They bar staff were friendly. The beach is really nice very hot on the sand so wear you shoes down to the beach. It is very cheap out there, and you do not get any hassle from the shop keepers, just say no thank you and they leave you alone.

Before I came here I was reading some terrible reviews and was worried. But it ended up being a brilliant holiday.

Staff:
We arrived late in the evening and the hotel was lovely, the reception people were a little rude but we only saw them twice during the whole two weeks and that was to check in and out.

The entertainment staff were the best ever! They made our holiday more interesting.
They were polite, friendly, fun and very good at their job. Sofien & Hamouch I believe were the names of the two staff we loved. They took care of us all the time and would speak to us every day, asking us how we were, what we have planned and plenty of stories we enjoyed listening to. They were incredibly helpful unlike the reception staff.
The aqua aerobics & water polo were brilliant and I don't normally do them things on holiday but they persuaded me to do it.

The bar staff were very funny and they would always remember us as we would probably order the most drinks every night.

Overall, with staff Hamouch and Sofien were the best and I hope they will be there next year.

Hotel/rooms:
The hotel was very beautiful. The marble that they use around the hotel makes it that bit more interesting. The food was reasonable, mainly at dinner time I would eat pizza, chips, chicken and sometimes spaghetti. Breakfast wasn't that great. Lunch was basically the same as dinner.

The entertainment is the evenings were not that great. The kids would have a bit of a dance with the entertainment staff but after that there is nothing else. One night we had bell dancers that were not that good. The Rose and Crown English pub was good as the World Cup was on while we was there and everyone was in the Rose and Crown watching the games.

The rooms were really good, funny smells at start but not that bad. The beds could have been more comfortable as they were a little hard. The bathroom was really nice, the shower was a little low but me and one of my friends are tall. We didn't have the best view but we did not care about that as we were hardly ever in our room.

Outside the hotel:
Ok so around the pool there are people that ask you to book trips. We booked two trips, our first trip we went on was quad biking. It was an amazing trip apart from when we was going back to the hotel in this mini bus we got stopped by the police and they were very intimidating with their guns and how they spoke to us but we got back to the hotel safely and cancelled our second trip.

Anyway outside the hotel there is a mini market which is really good for snacks, drinks, sun creams & toiletries.

A few minutes walk down the road there is a steakhouse that is fantastic. We had a massive cheeseburger there which was amazing. Make sure you check it out.

There is a nightclub a bit further down the road from the steakhouse for a good dance and a couple of drinks. It's a really good club. Mainly for the ages 18-26 not to be ageist.

There was a beach near by which we went to once during the day and a couple of times at night.

We didn't really leave the hotel that much but when we did it was to go to the club or to that steakhouse.

Overall:
We went all inclusive for two weeks and it was great in my opinion we met some lovely people and had loads of fun.

To conclude, I would recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing holiday and can easily make your own fun and friends.
