“first visit to this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

this was my first visit to this hotel after staying the last 10years at marhaba beach.well apon arrival we were greeted by reception who gave us a complimentary drink and said our room would soon be ready. after 20min we were shown to our room.my friend and I were disappointed as the room was basic and looked like it had not been cleaned. We were tired so unpacked and decided things might seem better after a rest., the rooms could do with a update and decorating.
FOOD-the food was piping hot and plenty to choose from.hot fresh made bread and pizza available every day.
POOLS- there were 3 pools to choose from and they were spotless and clean.we spent all our holiday on the beach tho as it was to crowded round the pools.the beach was clean and was able to get a sunbed everyday if we paid for them in advance.a bit of a con in a all inclusive hotel.
DRINKS- the drinks were good but cocktails you had to pay for which I have never seen before in Tunisia.
WAITERS- the waiters couldn't do enough for you once they had been tipped. We didn't have to ask for a drink or wait for one once as they were always coming round to see if glass was empty.
RECEPTION-the little man on reception was polite and always willing to help more than I can say for the rude bank man who never spoke just slammed down your money.
ANNIMATION- well what can I say if it wasn't for these guys the place would be drab. id like to mention Sam and Mohamed who were always coming to see if you were ok and would sit and chat with you. Great bunch of guys who are a credit to the hotel. The shows that they put on in a evening had me in stiches and the beach parties were great. well done guys and girls.
HOTEL- the hotel was clean and the surroundings were wonderfull.the gardens were the best I have seen in Tunisia and a pleasure to walk round. I will defiantly go back to this hotel in the future,

Room Tip: a top floor room has the best views over the palm trees.

I came back a couple of days ago, and the most important thing i'd love to say is, if you hesitate ( as i did) whether to take this hotel of not - just do it!The location is nice, you can even walk to Medina (historical part of the city) and el kantaoui isn't that far, though you'll definitely have to take a taxi (around 3 dn daytime).the territory of the hotel is big enough and the scenery is gorgeous.I'd lie if i said there were no problems at all. the room wasn't ready by the time we got to the hotel (it was ~ 8 in the evening) and animation is really a weak point there, lots of people, but don't really know how to do the job (the only guy who had a nice animation style was brought from Djerba the last days of our stay), the evening shows are disastrous so in the evening you can get bored easily if you have no plans of your own.
the service in the restaraunt isn't flawless, at dinner time especially, u'll kind of have to wait to get your knives and forks and a glass. But i'd like to say thanks to the waiters -Souher and the other guys speaks russian pretty well (sorry can't recollect the name). they did a great job!

I have just returned from a weeks holiday from hell at this Hotel on the 13th June 2013. I am so disappointed with the hotel, the staff, the holiday company and their rep. On arrival we were greeted in German, which unfortunately I do not speak,(Scottish), and as we were unable to understand the receptionist, he proceeded to be very rude to us.
Our room was not on the top floor with a sea view that we had actually paid extra for and was very tired and not very clean. Light fittings hanging off the wall and a huge dirty smear across the wardrobe doors, and at one point we had a cockroach visitor also!
Our first restaurant experience can only be described as horrendous and it did not improve throughout our all inclusive stay. Chicken thighs, chicken thighs and yes, even more chicken thighs!! Hey, I do like chicken but could not look at another one for at least a year.
We survived for a week on salad, eggs and bread rolls. I am not fussy but I have never experienced such awful food on an all inclusive before.
Trying to make the best of a bad situation we did decide to have a drink one evening and possibly go see the entertainment, we were asked by one of the hotel staff if we were going to go and see the show; however when we said yes, where do we go? we were asked to pay for tickets!, so free entertainment, non-existent.
On asking our rep if we can move hotels on the second day, he reacted like we were annoying him, and said oh give it a chance! (First Choice/Thomson I may add) and the food is excellent just give it a chance!
We did give at chance and you guessed it, nothing changed.
And unfortunately I have to add, our eastern European friends are not the most patient or polite and do not understand the concept of waiting in line for food.
Worst all inclusive holiday ever!

Had a fun trip, met nice people, good weather. All in all a good hotel! Animation was good, their chef very friendly, specially liked Ruby as animatrice, she's the best and i loved her disco tours, was very cool! Always with a smile on her face, very friendly and she's very welcoming! For the people that like to go out i advise you to do so. Its 10€ pp, gives you transportation and it nets you a cocktail and a VIP spot.

This room we stayed had been refurbished and was a good size and clean. We stayed for 9 nights which was long enough as there are not many English staying there and the evening entertainment was non exsistent unless you went downstairs into the "nightclub" which would not look out of place in Soho. The animation team were juvenile at best with no talent. The pool was very noisy at times due to the animation team playing records throughout the day.The al a carte resturant is a joke in and out in twenty minutes for a three courese meal. The buffet resturant I think does well considering the amount of people and nationatlities it has to cater for.The chambermaid never had a key for our bedroom so we had to let her in everyday until we complained then we never saw her again and got a chambermaid with a key. Those are the negatives but it is clean the staff friendly and it is on the beach overall a three star and good value.

Room Tip: Our room was first floor and had been refurbished and air con

This was one of my best holidays. Everyone was so friendly couldn't fault them. The only thing which is a bit annoying is getting up early to put towels on sun beds. Beach was beautiful. Animation team are the best, always entertaining, especially my two favourites Joe & Black. Can't wait to go back.

i read some reviews before we went, but we travel alot , & thought its best to make your own mind up. We went for a week ( only got back yesterday)& im glad it was only a week, firstly id say its more of a 3* hotel, & not 4*, the place was very clean, hotel room was clean, bed was ok really nice view,& nice to see the sun every morning , on opening the curtains(we had a sea view)there was a fridge, hair dryer, no air com till june & it was very hot at night in the room (though alittle nippy outside )we had to sleep with the patio door open.THE FOOD its the worst food ive had anywere, if you like pasta there is lots of it ( i dont)Breackfast was the worst i had pancakes & breadrolls every day,& a boiled egg, the only fruit were dates & 1/4s of oranges, fruit juice was cordiel ( a really cheap one )one day my husband tried the what i could only describe as cabbage & spam , yes that was at breakfast, the omlett frenzie was far to long await, coffee was good, lunch wasnt much better, there is a beach cafe, but again not much choice, & dinner ,well not so good either, ive been in the out back of india & ive ate far better food. The waiters most are misrable & rude, reception staff were always nice ,polite to both me & my husband , the entertainment, well noisey all day around the pool , we only went one night to the show ( i say show very tounge in cheek) was total rubbish, we dont have the same taste as the russian, german & french, they seemed to love it.the beach bar staff were the rudest, one day i was waiting , but they were to busy talking to eachother& had to wait till they finished, the small one with curly hair couldnt process more than one drink at a time, hed give me one drink then stand there looking at you like you were somthing on the bottom of his shoe,& id have to ask for my husbands drink ,in the end i sent my husband, they seemed to get served better,All in all we had a great holiday in the sun, but i wouldnt go back to that hotel again.
