“Value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Not the best hotel I have stayed at in Tunisia but good value, the restaurant was poorly staffed the food was limited, the reception was lack lustre, the money exchange was great, room service adequate BUT the poorest I have experienced in this country. With a little effort this could be a really special holiday destination

We arrived late (9pm) after a 45 minute coach hold up at the airport and had to fill out forms before being allocated a room and given wrist bands (ai). Our room was for myself, my husband and 4 yr old daughter. We only had two beds and enquired about the third and was told the maid had forgotten, after 30 mins another bed was added to our room but we found that the balcony door didn't shut or lock! Maintenance apparently fixed this and gave us our room card back. On return to the room we found that he had closed the door using a note book which had been jammed in it to get the door to close. We complained the next day and were moved to another room. Food was nice and there was a good choice but you have to be quick! Greedy people with plates piled high and left uneaten made dining an unhappy experience. Waiters work really hard and were a pleasure to be around. Beach is nice and tidy and plenty of beds, pool was freezing (march weather) to blame, done a few trips, safari park or zoo was good, reps night was ok, something different to do. Hotel does not have a separate bar so if you want a drink you have to sit in reception. You are not allowed bottled water until after 7 pm and were informed that this was because the hotel has water machines (which never had any water in and if so very little) Smoking is also permitted throughout this hotel (don't be fooled by the no smoking signs), Thomas Cook let us done majorly on our return journey. Picked up at 7.30am at hotel for 11am flight and were still in the airport at 8.30pm that night. Had to fight to get a rep to speak to us and tell us what was going on. No working phone in the airport to advise relatives at home about the change of time etc. Thomas Cook rep informed us that they were aware of the delay and still allowed us to continue through security which meant that we were unable to leave the airport and had to sit in the stifling heat for 13 hrs they also failed to keep us informed of any changes. Overall this hotel and Thomas Cook have put us off ever retuning to Tunisia!

Hotel itself and the staff were all pretty good. However lots of local kids running round with no supervision. I was hoping for a quite relaxing break, but was disapointed by the level of noise and lack of supervision by there parents. While licking spoons and sticking fingers in cakes may be endering qualities in your children indoors. It is off putting when someone elses kids are doing it with your food. When there parents piled there plates high with as much food as they could only to throw half of it away, what do you expect.Teenagers running round banging doors all night while pissed means it is not the sort of hotel for a quite break. We will not be returning.

Room Tip: Try another hotel if you want a quite stay.

When we walked into the reception we were greeted by a huge queue. My husband lined up to book in , only to be given a firm to fill in , this was done so were given our room. We were then whisked off by the porter to our room. When we got there , the room had been vacated and not cleaned . The double bed which I had asked the travel agents for was two single beds pushed together . Not a great start to the holiday . We went down for food only to discover that there was not a great selection , and what was there was bland and not great quality .the food was cold the room was tired . The whole holiday was a disappointment .if it wasn't for the waiters and the bar staff the whole experience would have been unbearable. As this was my first experience of all inclusive I am not impressed . This was for our silver wedding anniversary and I feel totally let down. 3 families who came in with us complained about the site and were moved to different sites .the screaming children who were running around like it was a playground were also a cause for concern. I will not be recommending this hotel and will not be returning to Tunisia in the near future .

Me and my husband travelled to this hotel last year at the end of August. We were really dissapointed...we were given a room near the pool which was awful, smelled and looked terrible. We went to reception and asked for another room...they showed us another 2 rooms and we chose room 1402 which was ok and of course the receptionist asked for money. The food was repetitive...tasteless. We had to tip the cleaning lady as she forgot about our room...soo basically everyone in that hotel wanted extra money to do their job.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marhaba Club for a week, all inclusive. We just wanted a little holiday with minimum hassle and a bit of sunshine, which I think we got here.
Being off season in March it was pretty quiet, which meant we could relax and enjoy our holiday without having to worry about not being able to get a seat by the pool etc! However, it did mean that we were lonely targets for a large amount of men trying to sell us excursions/saying they were waiters at our hotel (when they were not, they just wanted money) but once we got used to it and shrugged it off with a strict 'no' it was fine!
The food and drinks at the hotel were alright, as I said in the title, you get what you pay for. Not all of the food was amazing, but there was lots of choice and loads of Tunisian mains and desserts to try. They did also have chips and pizza and less adventurous foods for others who did not want to try anything different! The drinks were OK too, we mostly drank the local beer, but had the cherry brandy too which was very nice. There is a good selection, although I would of preferred if they had some good cocktail options, the ones we had were made with horrid syrupy fake juice which tasted disgusting. Also, bottle water ran out every single day we were there, we could only get some after 7pm at the lobby bar and this was rather annoying if you didn't pre plan before an early excursion!
There were only a few bars open over our hotel and its sister, but I guess there was not much point in opening all the bars for the amount of people who were staying! Shame though as I was looking forward to using the pool bar!
Our room was nice, big and had a lovely view from the balcony of the resort and the beach. Towels were a bit old and grey, but were clean so the colour didn't really bother us. We didn't take any towels for the beach and were not offered any, so we took our hotel towels out which was fine. There was quite a strong smell of sewage when we ran any of the taps which was quite horrible, however we tried to not let it bother us and kept the balcony door open while we were in the room.
The entertainment was good, the children at the resort seemed to really enjoy it, and there were bits and pieces for adults too. Again, I would assume this is increased when the hotel is full, but as we didn't have children with us I was glad the entertainment was kept at a minimum!
Service at the hotel really differed from person to person, some of the staff were a bit rude and some could not do enough for you! Obviously we tipped with this in mind as you would do anywhere.
We had a lovely stay here, the excursions were awesome and shopping at the Medina was really fun and meant we went home with lots of wonderful souvenirs and gifts. If you know what to expect and don't let the little things ruin your stay then I would recommend Tunisia and the Marhaba Club hotel as a great place for a holiday, especially if you want a cheap sunshine holiday!

The hotel was clean tidy all staff were friendly, animation team were great the kids joined in with everything
The food was excellent plenty to choose from .
I would say take your own pool towels
Bath towels could be of better quality apart from that what a fantastic holiday would recommend this hotel to anyone, location is really great 5 min stroll to the beach which you don't even have to leave the hotel to reach ,could not ask for a more relaxing holiday.
Certainly will be going back are rep Moez was great really polite & helpful ,
plenty of security on complex grounds were kept in top condition . Plenty of room in the swimming
pools , indoor pool, gym ,saunas , massage also a shop for gifts etc etc no need to leave the complex

Room Tip: Higher rooms you will not here people dragging suitcases along the corridors
