“Very dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

When i go on holiday i am not a fussy person, but this hotel is very dated. Food was good ( good job or i would have caught the next plane home ). Before i went i upgraded to a larger room, mm wonder what the small rooms are like. Beds were hard, old furniture, and bathroom not clean. some of the hotel staff were pleasant but not all of them. Entertainment was sparse and again dated. as it was february rooms were cold with air con not working. Had to wear a coat most of the time inside hotel. Don`t think i would return to this hotel, unless it had a complete refurb. Best thing was the spa and massage, lovely girls always ready for a laugh. The dining hall is a complete joke, you are supposed to sit at the same table all the time and leave cards with your details on the table. It dosen`t work. We never sat at the same table twice. !st come first served is my motto, and sit where you want.

“Rude & Incomptent Reception staff, AVOID AT ALL COSTS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We had booked for 4 night and we had an issue as my partner is Tunisia and we had to pay a suppliment of 40tnd per night,
This meant we had to pay for 2 rooms
Achref on reception tried to embarass us as we were not married and wanting to occupy a double room,
We tried to pay for 1 night as we were planning top move to another hotel but He INSISTED we pay the 160tnd before he would allow us to book in,
I requested a double bed, which he then informed me he gave to another guest as he thought i was moving hotels,
I complained to the manager, who apologised and told us we could have just paid for 1 night,
Achref then accused me of trying to get him the sack, and was clearly very angry we complained,
We since found out other guests made complaints about his treatment to them,
would NEVER stay here again,
The food was of poor quality and was repetative,
this hotel caters mainly for German and Russian Guests,There wasnt 1 English TV Channel.
This hotel deserves 2 stars Definately not 4 stars as advertised,

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We went on december 2nd-1 week half board. £250 each.Loved the glass lift, double room with balcony, alas no sun,but stunning views of the pool and beach, lots of palm trees! Sun at the front but a noisy rd. The room was adequate, the food fantastic, what a choice and fish cooked in front of you, coulden't fault it,nearly exploding by day 7. The staff on reception were very courteous, entertainment one man band, who could sing anything and 2acts you had to pay for lots of germans who liked to dance. The disco was empty, but would be great in season.
Sousse was an eye opener for us ,foreign! We didn't enjoyed being hassled,we were mugged by the Kantoui nut man,but the nuts were delicious!Everything was so cheap, good jewelry.
We had a trip to the zoo and Zulu cabaret,we were the only ones from our hotel so we had our own private taxi. Very good food and show, the zoo was very pleasant too, rustic. fabulous white tiger and humping giant tortoises! Quite expensive about £40,booking with thompsons I suspect we may have got it cheaper, but it was good value.
Kantoui was a bit manmade, the taxi's are as cheap as chips 5 dinars. We took the little train to Sousse,I found it busy and exciting,we never made the Medina, daughter was scared!

Room Tip: At the back for fab views of the sea,sun front.

“Salmonella”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This review is from September. We went as two couples staying in two double rooms. During the stay myself and my partner both got salmonella from the food at the hotel. Our friends also were ill but not like we were, as they had not eaten the food we did. The food was not great, and it all seemed to be aimed at the vast majority of German guests. People were like animals the one day chips were served it was disgusting! The staff were nice and attentive in the restaurant although less can be said about the reception staff. When asking to book for our night at the a-la-carte restaurant we were told that we had to wait a week, and we were only there for a week, although don't let them tell you no, we complained and got seated on the balcony the next day and the place wasn't even full.

The other guests were awful, one man actually almost drowned myself whilst playing water polo, they had no manners or respect for woman, my other half actually had to pull him off me. The sea was lovely although on the second day I was stung by a fish which was less then ideal as my leg swelled up and there was nobody to ask for help apart from 'mr banana' - although he was great!

The drinks were crap, there was no choice. Rooms were ok but non of the sheets/towels were changed. And the area was a pretty run down, we did not feel safe to leave the hotel, and even when we did there was nothing to do.

Overall we tried to make the most of the holiday but I was disappointed with what should have been a four star. I was a student at the time and even I was disgusted and that is saying something.

Room Tip: Sea views were lovely, shame about the rooms themselves.

“More a place for the retired than for families with young children but a good location for beach, shops and medina”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

Riadh Palms Tunisia
Very pleasant reception area, rooms were clean enough but not 4* more like 3 however a sea view is very nice
Exchanging money here is straight forward
Food is very limited on choice for vegetarian and for kids its pizza every day the desserts are plentyfull and very nice
Speaking of young ones there is nothing for them to do unless they organise it themselves, the animation team are only interested in adults so definitely no organised entertainment for the kids
If you like your tea take some tea bags because the tea at the bar isnt that good
Tips are expected more than earned
If you venture out on the streets be carefull because most people who approach you wanting to be helpfull and appearing to be friendly have their agenda especially if they take you to a shop selling silver
Fontenella is a nice Tunisian place to go for a coffee or dessert Tunisian style and has free wifi and is only a very short walk from here
The Medina is a 20 minute walk or 3-4TD(Tunisian Dina) for four people thats cheap its well worth a visit more than once first visit try to resist any purchases or you may have regrets and remember to haggle on price when you do decide to buy something or youre gonna get fleeced without any embarrasment at all
We were there for a week including new years eve and the temperature was in the high teens during the day and definitely no swimming in the sea or outside pool but the indoor pool although small is ok for a swim
Wifi in hotel only in lobby area which we found a little annoying but usable
Overall recommedation if youre retired and looking for cheap winter warmth and some company then this would do but for families with young children you may be disappointed at the lack of kids club activities on offer as the animation team seem to be more focused on the adults
